Did a bit more to the wheels I’m tarting up on the cheap.

They just need the clear spraying and some tyres fitted.

I need to do mine badly, how did you go about that? Getting rid of corrosion etc...??

I started off with picking at all the flaky bits and then again with a few wire brushes in a drill to remove the rest. Then I started with 60grit oxide paper sanding down a feathering in the edges of the bad bits, followed by 80grit and finally 120grit over the whole wheel.
After a few coats of primer they were then flatted back down to remove any remaining marks with a well-used foam-sanding block I chopped in half, used with some soapy water and then re primed were needed.
Then before the colour was sprayed on they were given a scrub over with a brillo pad to very light scuff/flat the primer.

It’s probably not the correct way to do it, but they haven’t turned out too bad considering its cost me £9 for 6 cans of 300ml primer from the local shop in town and £23 posted for 4 cans of simoniz 5 wheel silver. I’ve only used 2 cans of the silver so far to do the front back and inner well of all 4, so the other two cans with just be used to build up the colour before I get round to buying some lacquer.

Had a fun packed weekend fitting a cigarette lighter, CB radio and failing an oil change (no thanks to the filter being well and truely stuck on the car)but Oli went back to uni today so thought I'd see how easy it was to clean the engine bay with the stuffs I bought.

Apparently, it's very easy. Shame I don't have the inclination right now. This took me 5 minutes though, max. Not perfect but it's a start and a quick result... Well, for a very tiny bit of bay.

I think I'll tackle the rest another day - there's going to be a lot to do!

Gave it a good clean, inside and out. Also regreased the clevis pin and added a split pin for the door check arm. No more squeaks :D

Just need to work out how to strip, clean, and regrease the lock assembly, if it's possible.

Drove it to work which was fun.... parked it under a tree which was ok. acted like a teacher for 7 hours. came out to a bird dump on the roof after a good autoglym buff yesterday. Drove home with a lovely whitey blue cloud of smoke from my exhaust.... Now checking my valve rubbers and possible headgasket :D

Wasnt my mini - But I helped get it started, gagged when I saw it had oversills, poked my finger through a small hole in the drivers side rear bin pulled the carpets up to reveal surface rust in the footwells giggled to myself when the owner of the mini crashed his new car into his dads car, and took the mini for a spin round a nearby industrial estate, Loved every second of driving it been 4 months without driving one, got back and decided the mini wasnt really worth the asking price but I still wanted it..... DAMN you mini's why are you so amazing to drive! going to make an offer tomorrow

Did an oil and filter change, was pleased to see not to many bits on the magnetic sump plug, gave her a wash and wax. Yesterday she enjoyed having some roof chequres fitted. Tomorow the carb service kit is being sorted. Lucky min. :)
