Thoughts on the red dots?

I have 'new' barely used (12,000 km - but 24 year old rubber cones...

I believe most would recommend replacing due to age, yes?

Four to six times, in twenty-four years, yes.

Took the Mini out for a good run, only to discover that I have an exhaust leak from a crack in the manifold, a new one has been ordered from Minispares.

So my 1st task in the new year will be to replace the manifold, also going to replace all the engine steady bushes

Started making some sump plug adapters, I couldn't find my countersink tool, while looking for it I dropped a parting tool blade, which pierced an aerosol of grey primer, said primer went all over me, shut the workshop down, as evidently it wasn't my day.

Yesterday my Grandson & I fitted a new navigator's seat to the '64 'S' historic rally car. It's a Cobra and the width at the shoulder level was a bit wider than the old one, so I had to move the mounts inboard by around 2 cm.

Then we changed all the old brake fluid for new AP600 comp fluid.

This week I have to fit the wheels. lower the car and start the engine. Then set the ride height with the new ones an Hi-Lo's.

New heated screen will then be fitted and Osram Night-Breaker bulbs in the Hella Headlights.

Just the grill and spot-lamps to be fitted and it'll be rally-ready again.

Replaced my perished and split rubber exhaust mounts with poly bush ones. Hopefully they will last longer than the year the rubber ones did.

Fitted a pair of fog lights to the front, swapped out the hydraulic brake light switch and fitted a high level brake light to the parcel shelf.

Fitted new front number plate.

I've bought a set of pressed plates. Next up, flat and polish the boot and fit the rear :)

Just put it in for an MOT and passed. Only mention was for a top arm seal which was only replaced late 2023! Quality of some rubbers are shocking

Nothing on either Mini, but timed in the cam on a 1972 Midget 1293 engine which I am building for a friend. Next job is to fit the rear oil seal modification and the flywheel/clutch.

I have used the new Mini Spares Evolution pistons instead of the 21253's. They look to be a fantastic quality and design, especially for the price. I've also fitted the MS Evo001 cam, so it will be interesting to see how it goes with its larger inlet valves and gas flowed head at 10.2:1 CR.

Put new plates on, changed oil and filter, fitted subwoofer and drove around getting lots of questions asked about it. The best thing was I had FUN

Getting it ready for its MOT and service on Monday, with a wee to-do list for my brilliant mechanic.  Feeling positive, compared to this time last year, when it wasn't running at all.

Fixed the droopy door mirror, fixed the interior light switch, some wee bits of touch up paint here and there, tested the bulbs, wipers etc, and as long as it doesn't start to rain, I'm about to try to get some shine back into the completely flat paint (again).
