Refitted a load more shiny bits, I daren’t use anything that’s not been fettled, painted or polished, sometimes all three!

Fitted new 7.5 discs and pads due to having a warped disc.  Went for the more expensive MiniSpares discs in the hope they'll stay true.

Stripped both driveshafts to check and overhaul only to discover this is why I have trust issues. Three boots were clearly original and in varying states of split / perished / falling-apart, but the 4th had obviously been replaced having been secured with cable ties. Thankfully it was one of the pot joints so straightforward to clean out properly and reassemble with the correct grease ….

And I’m pretty sure I know and use the garage that looked after it for the previous owner. Very annoying, a professional mechanic should know better.

Cleaned all grease points so I can actually find them. So much gunk. They’re silver now! Added fresh grease, pushed out some brown crap.

Last night was prom for my eldest daughter, so I chauffeured her to the venue in the Mini.

We got a lot of attention!

Tonight I checked over the recently retightened thermostat housing bolts & noticed a little coolant weeping from the tops.

Removed the bolts & applied PTFE thread tape to see if that cures it.

Removed the original electric fan that is mounted in the inner wing - It’s never worked since i got the car.

Trial fitted the new Revotec electric fan ready for a new temperature controller.

Landed 2am from holiday, out at 10am replacing the steering rack, lower arm pins, bushes. Minispares rack lasted 18 months of daily driving before excess play in rack end.

I’ll do the geo in the morning.
The mrs wasn’t happy 😂

decided to replace the rod change oil seal as it seems to be leaking more oil than i can afford !  didn't have much trouble removing the rearmost roll pin because some donut had used a split pin instead !!!!  all done properly now along with a new exhaust and a oil and filter change, now hoping for a week or so of good weather to clean and use the car.

Old thermostat was completely jammed shut so no wonder I was seeing high coolant temperatures!

Replaced the thermostat & replaced the coolant while I was at it (forgotten what pain that bottom hose clamp was to get to!)
Ran the engine up to temperature & checked for leaks whilst it was running.

All good!

top tip is to take the bottom hose off at the water pump end and remove the radiator and hose as one unit

Took advantage of the good weather and out the garage it goes. Quick touch-up of underseal, then stretched its legs on a quick run. The mini ran faultlessly.

Popped the drivers door card off to try and find why my door rattles with the window down. Turns out I'm missing some rubber that holds the window in place inside the door.
Took the opportunity to waxoyl the inside of the door. Now to source the missing rubber...
