Fitted a set of 4.5 X 10 superlites to the clubman estate with the S discs.

Firstly the front studs aren't really long enough, so longer ones on order,

Secondly the wheel weights touched the caliper body on the right hand side but not the left hand side, despite the weights being at the same offset and thickness.  Had to relieve the caliper to fit the wheel.  The calipers looked like aftermarket items which I got off another mini so could well have been an oversize casting.

first; a commendable choice of wheel  ;D

second;  a heads up that if your replacement studs are dome headed rather than flat, you may find they also foul on the calipers

Thanks, yep, they'll be ground down to suit.

fitted a new wing mirror, as one of mine was cracked on the body mount. Then had to fit the a new one to the passenger side, as it the new one highlighted the colour fade on the originals.

Replaced the knuckle joint nylon cup on the Cooper S to hopefully cure the annoying squeak from the front of the car.

Seems like I spotted the leak from the thermostat sandwich plate just in time. Using the Mini daily, it's been getting worse and worse.

Bless Mini spares, ordered bits Saturday, 1st June. They arrived today, 4th June, can't ask for better service than that.

Now fitted, hopefully, problem solved.

Fitted the longer studs to the S flanges of the clubman estate to give more thread with the superlites.  Ground down the ends to clear the calipers

Also rebled the brakes to finally get a good pedal.

Not today, but at the weekend, took it on a road rally, displayed it at a big car show in the middle of a local race circuit and finished the weekend off with a couple of laps round the track. It was awesome.

Unless there is a filter hidden somewhere between the tank and the mechanical fuel pump I haven't got one.
I don't think the only one previous owner in her 70's/80's would have had one fitted.

I don’t know the age of your car mine is 75 and there is a filter in the tank on the feed pipe which was blocked and loose when engine was off it dropped halfway off the pipe, when the engine started it allowed a small amount of petrol to flow and go 200 yards then sucked the filter up and blocked the flow so when all else fails whip the lid off and see if it has petrol in.

I took the petrol tank out of the car and used an endoscope to check that filter and it was totally clear. So will now explore other possibilities

Paddy.

Took it out the garage for a first run, since last time start of May, round some local A roads/stopping at a country pub. Exhaust blowing (fixing it Monday). Other than that ran sweet as!

Finally sorted the grille the self tappers had been replaced with a mix & match and some holes were larger than others ...it was forever loose..so set to and riveted the hockey sticks on after much alignment fun, put rivnuts in the front panel and one under the hockey stick each side...has meant having to drill a small hole in the mock chrome but inconspicuous with a rubber grommet in them....a quick 20 mins job took 2 hours!but it's straight, spaced perfectly and solid ...

Changed the washer on the oil pressure relief valve, hopefully stops the oil leak
Wound the ride height down a bit today, might have overdone it a bit -we’ll see tomorrow when I drive it lol
I’d actually like to get rid of the arches, and the 6x10’s and go archless with some 5x10’s at some point

Finished off the soundproofing today. Silent Coated the whole of the front bulkhead last week, did it a little lighter in the rear and boot after watching a few YouTube videos on the topic. Took the door cards off and put some Silent coat in there. I then put 10mm closed cell foam on top and then finally removed the carpets and washed them.

The car is so much quieter than it was.

Connected both crankcase breathers to the carb via a Y piece (which isn't the correct item to use)

Had a stab at changing indicator/wiper stalks to the later 84 on style but ran into problems with the cowl so reverted back.

My car has 6x10's and no arches. 7.5" discs on the front which makes the fronts stick out quite a bit. It was MOT'd a couple of months ago and this was only an advisory, not a fail which surprised me. I do like the Group 5 arches but no arches is the best.
