Got the Mini out of its carcoon within the leaky garage ahead of going for some repair work & MOT on Thursday this week.  This will include some long-awaited welding to a crack in the floorpan.

While checking everything and warming it up, I found a petrol leak which would have ended in disaster had I not spotted it ... the petrol was dripping down onto the hot exhaust...  It gave me a fright.  Check your fuel pipes people, and have fire extinguishers to hand at all time.  I have only used E5 petrol because I knew about the risks, but the short stretch of rubber hose between the copper fuel line and the fuel filter has still split underneath where it can't be seen.  I think its about 10 years old.

Also spotted that my front tyres are from 2013...

The funniest thing was, when i started it up and turned the radio on, the very first words that came out were "Money.... thats what I want."

A little time spent with leather clean and cream and I'm quite pleased with the result, the ribbed sections are leather, the centre and outer sections are vinyl ... or vegan leather in modern speak.

It's amazing how sun-dried the leather was at the very top of the seat back, it might need more regular attention.

Removed the old centre console, fitted the new one and secured the speakers on rear parcel shelf. Interior is now done. Next stop welding on passenger side footwell.

Fitted soundproofing to the under bonnet.

How is that done correctly? Pics? I need to do this, and have 2 different kits, but am worried of messing it up and getting material stuck in my belts.

Cut to shape using a stanley knife. I used my old soundproofing for reference, which I got from Mini Spares (the kit) and the new ones fitted fine. I used foam mats this time round.

The kit from Mini Spares I had before fell out due to the heat of the engine.

Lost my clevis pin virginity - what a job that was.  Not looking forward to putting them back in!!

I was only planning on cleaning up the area in the engine bay.  Now I have to paint and have purchased all new cluch fluid parts and new brake lines!

Long nose locking pliers are your friend for putting them back in, also replace the split pin with R clips, much easier!

Use the Nicklous method with an old fork it makes the job of putting it back in a lot easier.
