Nagging feeling that the aperture after new scuttle in a little tight.

Not much to worry about there n terms of alignement, in my opinion.

I had wondered that too  in my own case myself  before it came to re-fitting the screen. I had taken no before/after measurements.

However, upon careful reflection and inspection, I decided its almost impossible to tighten up the aperture unless you are re-modelling the corners with some metal, ands the edge of the scuutle to be attached wit welds  is aligned with the bottom lip of the screen  aperture.

i suspect he meant trial fit the screen before painting

Oh.  Boggles my mind.

by the way  KTS,  I noticed your picture, and think the mini looks very smart with  thast sub-carriage in black and red. It made me press the like button.  I also like ht eway with the windows out, that the cold air can escape. You might want place a seat in the engine bay.

Took the Mini to a coffee and cars at Frost Auto Restorations warehouse near Culcheth. Only a couple of hours but it was nice to get the car out for a blast.

worked out that turning the Hilo suspension adjsting nut 4 flats would adjust the height by  3/8".

Set the height for anew set of yokohama 12x165

Snapped a wheel nut stud which twisted off like a piece of cheese.

Started cutting the oversills off yesterday, and ended up wanting to replace half the car. Fun.

Changed the coolant from OAT to silicate type (comma G40)  Checked the brass taterway plug visible inside the head  and didn't see any sign of deterioration, but better safe than sorry. (already had alloy rad and heater.)

Made a repair to the drivers side window regulator mechanism. One of the runners was badly worn, so replaced it and will see if the repair works tomorrow.

After a great weekend with the West Country Minis on the Isle of Wight adventure, the GT performed excellently all weekend until on the return journey about 5 miles from home the Mini refused to idle without the use of a little choke, so today I established that the carb piston/damper were a little bit sticky, so I stripped them down, gave it all a clean and polish, put some fresh oil in the damper, started it up and all is well again.

The repair worked so put it all back together.

I went on a visit to Japan a week ago and bought some goodies from Mini Delta in Osaka. You can recognise the place by the British phone box outside, and a lovely stripy Paul Smith Mini.

There was some tasty stuff inside - some Lotus Europas and a full race mini with a KAD 16 valve.

Anyway, I with the help of Google Translate and save pages from their website I bought some things, and yesterday I fitted them to my car.

Chrome window winders and escutcheons. These are *much* better quality and heavier than the BL ones I fitted before:

A neat little alloy handbrake lever trim:

Little round indicator repeaters:

Most chuffed about these perspex sun visors:
