Timing cover oil seal changed and got the cover back on.  Couldn’t carry on as I use the Jack from our golf to support the engine and forgot to grab it before missus went to work.  
 

Did manage to get new thermostat housing fitted plus flush out of the engine.  
 

should have it back together tomorrow

Fitted the set of 10” wheels in place of the 12” ones.

Lined the roof with a piece of Harrison's 4-way-stretch carpet in lieu of a head-lining. Inexpensive and remarkably easy although the glue fumes are... powerful.

The colour? Stone[d], naturally.

Had some feedback on prototype number 1 7 port airbox. So I started on prototype number 2 with an increased distance from the Bell mouth to the inside of the airbox. Might entail cutting off the bonnet pin which I really didn't want to do

Replaced the steering rack! Only had one issue with the passenger side clamp. All in took me 3.5 hours. 5 hours quicker than the first one I did in 2010 on a mates car 😂😂

Started the engine wiring loom.. going cross eyed

Mot failure on a split in both steering rack gaiters…. Luckily a quick job , aided by the use of my pals 4post lift and a puller…  and nice cheap parts readily available, although information in some quarters a little confusing as to the correct length of the gaiters….. tape measure and professional confirmation came to the rescue.

The cover came off for the first time since June so I could take the Minors wheels to the tyre place. I've had two tyre valves that have split at the base so the wheels came off to get some new ones fitted. I think I'll keep it out for a while to run around in and takes some pictures for when it goes up for sale.

Took it for a run today and pushed it to the limit with the VMAX supercharger- got a Piper 255k and looking to put in an SW10 to get higher lift and duration, then out thrashing it again!!
