Sorted out a sticking choke on the RH carb on the Cooper 'S' as it was causing nos 1 & 2 plugs to soot-up.
Runs great again now.

wow! I like that :genius:

Im very impressed.....A quick question. How are you going to secure the car in the van. Will it need tied down or can you just use the hand brake.

You couldnt put the hand brake on as you need to winch the car in as you cant get in our out the door when its in. There are already a few mounting points at the rear, I have got to fit a few more at the front so it will have be tied down at each wheel. I will also be fitting chocks in which will block each wheel front and back. As has been said it would hurt if you brake hard ;)
Should have its first run out later in the month at Oulton park.

Well I had a very tedious weekend.

On the Wednesday I fitted my block to the gearbox and stuggled like buggery to carry it alone from the kitchen to the hall and then over the step onto the drive.

I then fitted the clutch on friday and with the girlfriend controlling the hoist we got the engine in the car. Its a remote gearbox so not the most amount of clearance.

Anyway left the engine plonked in till mates came over on Saturday. All the clutch is new including release bearing and also the plunger and the arm / pins the lot. We connected and blead the clutch before one of my mates through that the plunger was sticking a bit far out even when the clutch was pressed. To make sure I had not made a balls up we lifted it out again to check the flywheel was on the crank ok and that the release bearing was pressed on the plunger enough. Anyway all looked good so in it went again.

We proceeded then to carry on with the aux connections such as the new s brakes, the remote gearbox linkage and the dredded U links for the drive shafts. These were fun , NOT. So at this point we have been spannering for a few good hours and its getting on to 19:00pm. So this is where I made a big boo boo.....

I was fitting the dizzy drive gear and it slipped off my finger and dropped at a funny angle just in view, heading into the block and towards the sump.. :D

I could have cried. We spent 20 mins with a magnet on a rod thingy trying to fish it out but it was top heavy. I took my fuel pump blanking plate off and tried to fish it out from there, no joy. We then heard it drop a bit more. Turning the crank slowly it came into view before i knocked it to the dreadded sump. There was no options left now. :D

So we set in for a late one... Within 3 1/2 hours we had it out, on the floor, clutch off, block split from box, took the dizzy gear out and fitted it at this point, put it all back together and got it in the car. Sunday was spent putting the U joints back on and continuing where we were 24hrs before. Anyway so far so good now. Making good progress in an attempt to get her ready for IMM.
Picked up my machined head today that have had hardned seats fitted and valves lapped. I asseembled the springs and seals and painted the head tonight.
Also listed my other mini 1380 in the for sale section on TMF

Not long left now till IMM and lots to do.

I have put the dizzy gear in ample of times before without issues and now i know why. I was informed today that you can only drop the gear in on an a series block and not a a+. This is my first a series as all others have been a+ , hence the issue. Be warned. I also found out the dizzy drive is threadded in the middle so you can wind a bolt in it and then poke it home

developed a fuel leak at the weekend, so investigated it today, it was the rubber seal in the float chamber, that holds the jet in, so replaced the seals and jets on both carbs, done both just to be on the safe side. Also fitted new brake discs and pads.

Mine is the big yellow thing.

10*5.5" Wellers (still need another coat of paint or two) covered in 165, 70, R10 A008s, shielded by group 2 arches.

Harvey (as he is affectionately named) is the new addition to my mini family, he has had a few issues so far but I'm loving him!

Few more pics for luck...

clutch release bearing disintergrated and locked up this morning, so i drove her to work with no clutch, which was fun in stop start morning traffic, not, wasnt actually too bad once id started moving, other then the pillock sitting on my bumper flashing his light whilst i was struggling to get her into 3rd gear, which involved lots of synchronised crunching and swearing :D i enjoyed driving it with no clutch, bit of different experience, knocking it into neutral, matching the revs to the road speed, and slipping it into gear, feels good when you do it with no crunching.
