My Cooper S brake setup turned up then I put some Leyland logo decals on my rostyle centre caps to break up the silver a bit & gave her a quick wipe over with a buffing cloth before going to work

MOT tomorrow, so checked the basic things today, plus little test drive.

Wasn’t fast idling and idling right, probably because I upgraded the air filter, inlet manifold & exhaust before COVID lockdowns & never had chance to set it up properly.

So set the carb up on base settings for now, using AC Dodd’s informative YT video.

Let’s see what tomorrow brings!

Took her for an extended drive to make sure she's alright for Mini's at Michelham next weekend & all is well for the time being 😂

Installed an AEM AFR-gauge! Now I know exactly how I can tune the air-fuel mixture

Over the weekend I got new adjustable lower arms fitted and luckily had a spare ball joint in the tool box as that needed doing at the same time.

Managed to loosen the bolts holding the rear radius arm brackets in preparation for some nice new KAD ones.  Was panicking they would not undo since car being rebuilt some 18 years ago.

Suspension being set up on Wednesday.

Next it is making sure car is ready for AC Dodd in a few weekends time for a tune.

spent the day replacing the engine steady bushes, this is the best and the worst condition ones that i removed, an induction heater made light work of the stubborn bushes

Trip to minispares to see Gary for the first time in 15 odd years.  Great to see him.

sorted some studs to fix flywheel casing after engine steady de threaded where the bracket attaches.  Steady removed and luckily had enough thread for the stud.

also picked up some new Minator wheels, these will look great when fitted.

I also have AC Dodd coming up in a few weeks so got some timing numbers for him.

a good day

I only replaced mine about 500 miles ago & they're already starting to go again, this is the problem with the parts quality nowadays so I've just bought 4 sets of original Austin Rover bushes new old stock in the proper boxes so should hopefully last a long time 🤞

Didn't go to Mini's at Michelham as there were weather warnings for thunder & heavy showers so done something productive by fitting a new breather hose with a NOS genuine Leyland part I had in stock & painted the clips for all the hoses

Presented my Mrs with her first mini!

Bought it secretly yesterday and this morning surprised her with it. We piled in with the kids still in pyjamas and went for a blast around town. Was absolutely made up with it. Unfortunately she had to go to work today so couldn't play longer but it's the first proper mini we've had and really looking forward to getting to know it and having fun.

Finally took enough off the HIf44 needle to get a sensible A/F reading for urban driving.  Now to check the higher speed driving mixture tomorrow or Wed.
