Vizarded the last carb I bought. This is an HS4 coming from an Innocenti 90, with the horizontal elbow and big heat shield.

Throttle shaft halved, streamlined, and the butterfly knife-edged. Button screws are on the way.

Next task is now to build an offset airbox for it with motorbike air filter.

Get the red Mini running, have it insured and then it will be my Frankenstein, to test every mod I have and want to do on Toto the big project.

Got pics? Curious as to what you did... inno parts are easy for me to get.

Got it back from being MOT’d (passed and mostly clean bill of health) and rolling road Ed after the carb rebuild and Stage 1 fitted.

Numbers don’t mean much to me if I’m honest and didn’t have a view of before the Stage 1 but a 10% uplift on my basic tune and drives great!

I'm lacking some knowledge here...

corrected and engine power OK.

Wheel power: is it the power coming to the wheels?

Drag power = losses?

That's a huge value, but I think usual for Minis?

I really should have asked when I was there… the Dyno is a MAHA LPS 3000 and having Googled the instructions am still no more informed. Hopefully someone will be along to put us straight!

Here you go.

The HS4 for the Inno is basically the same, but the elbow and heat shield are different.

I disassembled everything and reshaped the throttle shaft (upper half cut away, new button screws cut to length, lower side thinned and streamlined, thottle butterfly cut edged):

I plan to build an offseted airbox to free a bit the space and have better access to the carb.

On project Frankie:

On Saturday, installed the rebuilt GMC167 Master cylinder back, plumbed the brakes.

Ahhh. and did the worst job ever. Pedal split pin...

Then reassembled the steering column, swore at the alignment to put the lower pinch bolt.

On Sunday: Bleed the brakes, the clutch, installed an RC40 exhaust, solved air leak at the carb.

loosen up the steering column and rack bolts, to sort a hard point in the steering. Still have to do the alignment.

Happy with the progress. Seeing the target of driving a Mini again coming closer :)

And should concentrate on the bodywork on Project Toto...

Renewed my MOT with no issues on the car, other than the standard "The rear brakes tested quite low". I explained that, due to its light weight and short wheelbase, it isn't going to test at the same level as a Range Rover. I've driven a Mini with powerful rear brakes and, in the wet, on the road, switching ends is too exciting for me.

Not sure whether it's a Covid or crap summer effect, but my annual mileage was down by 73%. :(

Neglected the mini for the last couple of months, so thought I'd try starting it - No surprise it didn't start! Ordered new battery charger/maintainer and added service bits to my mini sport basket
