Decided on putting a bit of carpet in the load bay temporarily. Managed to feed the number plate wire through the tailgate...eventually and got the tonneau refitted

Started to clean the carb in anticipation of the rebuild kit arriving. Was tempted to get an ultrasonic cleaner but thought I’d try a bit of elbow grease and not too shabby. Dashpot still needs some work, only got up to 600 grit paper so far:

For my spare 1293 hot road/track engine

Rebuilt the carb today. 1st time so a few hurdles with spring position etc…





Thanks to everyone who’s helped with problem solving and info leading up to this point! Tappets, timing and tuning next weekend.

Wirral to Llandudno (Oswestry) done, an early start but fun none the less

Finished the running gear overhaul (New upper & lower ball joints, front wheel bearings, new front shoes & drums, new rear shoes and drums) and celebrated by fitting my new 4.5x10 Cooper S Steel wheels and new chrome wheel caps.

Balanced crank in,alloy front cover on,
Gears shimmed,
Now awaiting some more parts

Fitted the refurbished carb, starter motor and new battery. Started 1st time and running great compared to before. Still got tappets, timing and tuning to do.

Hi dude,did you bend out the butterfly screws slightly?
Put a screwdriver in the thread slots and twist slightly,it stops them falling out

Great spot. You know when you think “I’ll do that when I fit it… well, I didn’t… Will whip it off and do today. Thanks for calling it out before the inevitable happens!
