Celebrated "Tiddles" 30th birthday today by driving around in the sunshine!

 

At least, the number plates and some of the car have been on the road since 20th April 1989

Had a ride along the coast in the sunshine.

Got my wipers & washers working, tracking done, 4-pots on and all bled, all lights working (again)...still fighting with the replacement accelerator cable then I can plug it in the ACR to see what else is wrong...

Replaced the fuel tank

Replaced the coil, dizzy cap and leads in an effort to resolve some strange behaviour .... Seems to have done the trick! Pretty sure it was the original coil (1990) - had been misfiring and occasionally backfiring with the rev counter needle jumping around when it happened.

Ordered a new cam from Graham Russell in Australia, 112 degree of lobe separation, suited to my supercharged motor..... see how that goes.

My top arm is completely seized. I will have to cut the ends off and then try and remove the pin. Were the old needle bearing straightforward to get out Cooperman?

Also, for your 7.5 Discs. Complete or just the conversion from 8.4?

Fitted a replacement LH top arm with new bushes and pin. This replaced an arm which had a 10mm damper shaft as a replacement for the 3/8" UNF. The 3/8" one snapped on a rally in 2004 and now that I have bought the car back I have put the arm back to standard size. 

Also completed the re-skinning of the LH door, sorted some dents in the RH door and the boot-lid.

Next job is complete paint prep and re-spray the car. Then fit the 7.5" discs and replace the lower arm and tie-bar bushes, steering rack gaiter and inner drive shaft gaiter.

It's coming on well now.

Fired it up, brought it out of the garage into the sunshine, dusted & detailed the paintwork, then drove it back into the garage (not taxed yet!)
