Errrrgh!
Eventually got the thermostat housing off to reveal this.

Swapped out my fancy pants clutch/flywheel for a standard one to see if it was the fancy pants clutch/flywheel that was causing the revs to drop when the clutch was depressed. Standard clutch equals no rev drop so now need to work out why. Thinking it’s the uprated diaphragm.

Removed radiator & hoses and completely flushed the system.
Took about 7 flushes before the water ran clear!

Changed big ends and main bearings.

Now I have the best flywheel locking tool that apparently everybody has just laying around.....

They really beat the pants off of a screwdriver held in precariously with one hand, torque wrench in the other.


If anyone wants one, I'll post one for the price of a stamp.

Whilst I had the radiator out of the car, I decided to paint it along with the cowling.

Drove it 210 faultless miles between Oxfordshire and Wales.

What Did You Do To Your Pants Today?

Nearly messed them, when I couldn't get the oil light to go out before first start up.

Back filled the pump from the oil temperature sender hole. All good. (Except the pants.)

Placed a BIG order with Minispares.
Silicone Radiator hoses, high capacity super water pump, water pump fitting kit, jubilee clips, thermostat, thermostat housing bolts, gasket sealant..........:)
