Looked how much an engine/gearbox rebuild costs  It might stay broken a bit longer!

Oh and I put its British Mini Club sticker in the window. First sticker!

Bought a new Bosch battery (~£99, down to ~£65 with Halfords trade card). Haven't driven it more than a few hundred feet for about a month. Took it round the block. Felt great to drive it again! That was until a few minutes later on the way back when the NSR wheel fell off.

Bled/adjusted the brakes recently and only hand tightened that wheel. The rest were fine.

Stopped immediately. Luckily I had my jack, axle stands and wheel lug in the boot. About 30 seconds later a car pulled up behind me. It was a fellow Mini enthusiast and he said he had some spare wheel nuts indoors just around the corner. As he went to get them I re-traced my steps and looked for the nuts that fell off. Found two. Walked back and he returned with a bunch of wheel nuts.

Gotta love peoples love for the Mini and its popularity. If it wasn't for him, I would've been VERY carefully driving home on two wheel nuts.

Tell you what, though. I do feel like a bloody idiot. Did feel a bit embarrassing running after my wayward wheel, too. Just hope I haven't damaged the drum. Just had scrape marks on it.

Well i meant mad with the soundeadening and covered evry panel i could see also fitted black sticky pads to panels to stop them rattling, refitted the exhaust so it no longer rattles against the gear linkage and fitted new subframe tower mounts to stop the knocking sound i used to get when i pulled away. Feeling quite pleased with myself and the wife will be happy as she uses jack nearly every day.

So pleaased with myself i cleaned part of the garage and then took the tub for a spin to blow the cobwebs of him and me. Blinking heck it feels fast with no roof on, i had almost forgot.

Tomorrow might get the new project painted ready for refit. If all gos to plan.
