Drove mine to work for the first time in around 10 years that she has been for anything more than a run to the garage. She was missing for at least 3 years while the chap that had the engine (for a rebuild, that later cost another 1,500 have have put right)) disappeared. All good on the drive into work. Forgot what fun they can be......

Ah well it failed........
Needs the rear subframe replaceing, the tester said that everything else was fine with the car but he can't pass it because of the rear subframe is rotten....
Just glad I got another, but that also need repairing too.... gonna be a stressfull couple of weeks ahead, Iv got to drop the rear subframe, repair the replacement and fit it, all within the 2 weeks for the retest... and have to go to work inbetween. I have no guarantee what time I get home. I start at 6:30 in the morning and keep going until we get back to the depot....
Bugger...!!!

Replaced the nearside upper and lower ball joints as it was a MOT advisory, struck lucky with both with selecting the right shims 1st time.
Next job is to replace the head gasket.

Reset the odometer reading on my Smiths triple dials to match the original twin set they are replacing, what a ball ache but very doable with a bit of care and patience which usually evades me.

Dropped the rear subframe, without snapping any bolts or broken anything...
Discovered a huge hole in the heal board, in the usual place where the subframe bolts to, so need to get that fixed/welded up before refitting the subframe..
Got the fresh subframe ready to fit, that also needs repairing before fitting..
Also need to replace both sills on either side and the inner sill on the O/S...
Have all this to do with 2 days off work next week and about 5 days left before the retest date runs out..... dont think it'll make it meself...
Busy busy busy...

Rolled the new chrome bezel onto the rev counter after making fixtures to hold the rev counter in the lathe.

Also just purchased a metro front mount radiator.
Think this will work nicely, minus the fan.....will probably upgrade the hose also

I broke down at 2:30am ish on a back road with no street lights to aid me and only the moon to help me see haha and spent a life time it felt like fault-finding and fixing it with my bag of tools.
I know now to keep my phone charged up and invest in a decent torch to keep in my car haha
Keep the phone charged up and use the torch app on the phone.
