Realised the crank end float was way too tight, so been slowly linishing the thrust bearings to get right.

Fitted new carburettor gaskets and put a shorter spacer from mini spares and bolted carb back to inlet manifold so hopefully the mini will start and idle now

Fitted a new distributor cap and rotor arm, Now waiting for a helicoil kit to turn up so i can fix the sump plug thread, put some oil in and see if she starts!

Spend as much time as it takes to fit it square, Its not easy in situ and you only get one chance. Try using a nylon washer rather than a copper to seal it once you've fitted it. If you decide to go that route try this sitehttps://www.accu.co....g&orderway=asc.  You need to view it on a pc, the 5th column on the right enables the washer material and colur options.

Started my panic rush to get back to the MOT station before my 10 day window expires and I have to pay again.  Exhaust off, manifold hacked to bits and off, front discs off and one hub in bits. 

 

Got the other side to strip tonight, then drain the oil, pot joints out for new seals while I wait for the new outer CV rubbers to arrive. 

 

New exhaust is due Thursday, MOT Friday, so going to sack work off and get that done.  Hopefully the CV rubbers arrive today or tomorrow and I can get them on and ready to go back together before then or Thursday might be a bit of a mad rush!

Classic mini Vs Modern mini at Knockhill raceway, good racing but freezing cold and wet lol

I found out there was small hole in the clutch fluid reservoir. These plastic things brittle easily, I think. My mechanic was able to glue a patch and prolonged its life, until I have a new one.
