So after he balanced my carbs, profiled my needles and messed with my timing, 5 runs on the dyno and 4 hours, he found 18 bhp lurking in the gloom of the engine bay.
Final figures of 82 bhp and 78 foot pounds of torque at the flywheel.
She rev'd out to 6750 with ease, but no increase in power after this only a plateau in the power curve, No need to push it.
Very happy with this result and just a magic car to drive, the wife was grinning before I had hit second gear.
Peak torque is at 3500rpm and is linear from there through to 6500!!!!
Bloody amazing.

Right so had my dyno session this morning, turned up thinking the car was running fairly good and would just need a tweak, how wrong I was.

To paraphrase Apocalypse Now, there's nothing like the smell of a great rolling road session first thing in the morning.

Done a few things yesterday:
Removed dash, figured out the previous owner had a thing for fuses and put fuses on everything he could, 4 blown fuses is the cause of my dash lights not working.
While dash was out got around to removing the cracked and shrunk layer on top of the wood, ready for paint and a union jack sticker from StickyFingers.
Finished painting my old steering wheel ready to mount it along with painting the oil cooler brackets which myself and the old man made so they don't rust.
fixed a few holes in the floor of the drivers foot well (previous owner said there were no holes, yet they were merely filled in with sealer)
sanded down the sills ready for paint and then some underseal.
Today, waiting for the mailman to deliver an oil pressure relief spring and ball then off to go fit it, along with getting some new fuses, fuse holder, seam sealer and kill rust.
If this spring doesn't work, time for the engine to come out

Fitted a replacement heater valve which arrived later than promised. Hope this one lasts longer than 2500 miles(or there will be trouble).

Rolling road session at Classic and Race yesterday. 79 bhp and 81 torque at the flywheel on the first run!! Only took it up to 5200 revs and was still pulling just, so max bhp not found. He didn't bother to tune it as was pretty happy it was good and on the right spring, needle, timing etc. Very happy with that.
1275 A+ metro engine, MG metro cam, ported MG metro size head, HIF44, BDL needle, K&N cone, stub stack, AC Dodd curved electronic dizzy, 1.5:1 minispares forged rockers, LCB, RC40.
Obviously the car worked hard because the rocker cover gasket needed replacing after the run and the minor exhaust leak turned into a more major one and then fell off on the way home!!!! Good job i was about 2 mins from a Kwickfit!

110 mile round trip to Kilbroney classic car show. Superb event (Co Down, Northern Ireland) glorious sunshine all day and unlike last year the Mini made it home under its own power rather than on the back of a flatbed!

Needs a non rht on the a21 from London in to the park and then at the park itself split the traffic left and right so you can have prepays going immediately left for one makes on that side of the park, and then the other splits of pre paid and turn up on the day going right as was today....simples!

Went to the Bromley motoring pagent for the first time, bleeding hot but mr Bridger behaved himself on the cooling front as ever, nice show loads of minis... only down side being that a 5 year old could manage the entrance traffic better !

Also went to the Bromley Pageant, and agree very very hot, my GT behaved well but was getting hot under the collar with the comical marshalls sending us on a full circuit of the venue before parking us next to where we entered the park,
It was a good day with some lovely Mini's on display, plenty of ice cream to keep me cool and managed to sell some parts as well

If I may ask, what is considered hot over there? Or perhaps what temperature and length of drive do you notice your Mini starting to run hot?
