Re-torqued head, checked valve clearances, set idle mixture with a Colourtune plug, added anti-freeze, checked head lamp aim and gave the car his Cooper bonnet badge back :D  Hopefully the MOT place will let me fine tune the idle mixture when it's on the gas analyser and tweak the head lamps, they're usually pretty good like that - oh yes MOT booked for next Wednesday.

Finished stripping engine bay the other day, yesterday completely wire cleaned and sanded the engine bay, inside front wings, front panel and all those hidden nooks and crannies nice and smooth. Then cleaned with a tack rag and panel wipe. Rust treated all those bits of surface rust.

Today, I gave it all the first coat of brush painted Anti Corrosive Epoxy Mastic, except the engine bay which will get a coat of primer after the second coat of epoxy has gone on.

Got his Cooper face back on :D

I got the bonnet stripes, side laurels and stripes from an antique and craft centre about ten years ago for less than a fiver - Minispares ones too. Just going with the bonnet stripes for now.

There was never a battery strap fitted so in line with my policy of not spending anything unless I have to I made one

A piece of ally angle I found and couple of cut down tent pegs threaded with a 3/16 whitworth die nut I just happened to have - found a couple of nuts that fitted too - jammy bugger ;D

Need to find the positive battery terminal cover - I've got it somewhere :shy:  The battery cover is now on so OK for now,

Got a quote for welding that made me sad. Gonna have to wait to get work done, nothing bad anyway.

Cleaned the engine bay a little bit. Didnt realise that under the badly flaking paint the radiator looked like this (after some polish)Attached File  rsz_20170604_152529.jpg   43.67K   8 downloads

Broke a front wheel stud so had to change it unfortunately you have to undo the big hub nut and take off the flange from the disc but only took 35 minutes

Sun is shining, so got her out the garage for quick dust off & detail.
Probably take her for a evening run.

Changed the hydraulic brake light switch and then bled the front brakes.

Now Ive got brake lights that work when you just press the brake pedal, not try to stamp it through the bulkhead!

(I actually bought a switch last August and didnt get round to fitting it. Remembered about it about 4 weeks ago and put the switch "somewhere safe", so obviously I couldnt bloody find it and had to buy another one. The original will obviously turn up tomorrow)
