Started making my new dashboard.
The one I made ages ago was too thin, and got all warped over time. Fancied a change of layout too.

Spent all day on it, cutting out the holes with the limited tools I had - Took ages!
It's 75% done. Final bits to do are cutting out the hole for the drivers side speaker, then the hole for the stereo, then pad and cover it. - Then it's done!
Then I'm going to make a new centre console, as my old one was falling apart. Should be good when it's done!

Sat in it?

First time for while seeing as it's not being stored in a barn.

Jump started it, had a little tinker but still can't get it running right.

Tomorrow hopefully, I'm going to check dizzy, points etc, might stop misfiring

Put my new super light 13x7 deep dishers on, got my home made mesh grill finished, still not happy with it though and started fitting my boot lining kit. What a hassle, the immobiliser is in the most inapropriate place and it seems to be the only place it can go. Oh well :)

Made the hole in my boot floor bigger, tinkered with my new bottle of gas and then ran out of motivation and went home!

Took mine out for a quick run on Sunday night as the car hadn't moved since October, (Okay, I know this thread is what did you do today) anyway, about 5 mins after setting off, I noticed the heaters went cold, temp gauge rising fast, so turned round got back in to the garage and switch the engine off, opened the garage door to see a big puddle of coolant, it seems my rad was almost empty and the bottom rad hose is weeping, possibly due to the hose clip not getting a tight enough grip or the radiator leaking, I must get a new one regardless though.

I could hear the oil bubbling away on the rockers, so took off the oil filler cap to let it cool down a bit, then took the radiator cap off, suspicions were right, next to no water in there. So with the car ridiculously hot, I slowly filled the rad up with warm water, (I didn't want to put cold straight in in case it did damage, was that right?) Anyway, topped it up gradually, engine cooled off nice, started it up to bleed the coolant and all running nice and back to normal.

So moral of the story, check your fluids if it's been standing a while, I usually do, but sod's law, the one time I didn't!

Quite a lucky escape, good job I wasn't going far in it.

Painted the rear hydrolastic displacers and the rods that connect them to the radius arms. Sprayed (aerosol) half the fuel tank (need it to dry so I can turn it over and do the other side).

On Saturday I changed the NSF wheel with the spare as it was buckled. It's incredable now, I can drive at 30mph without being shaken to bits. I also took the carb apart and cleaned and was going to replace the air filter, until I went to the local parts shop and they didn't have one, but they could've got me one for yesterday, which isn't very helpful when I'm at my home and the part shop is over and hour away. Anyway, next job is to clean it, as I have been putting it off for way too long!
