Removed a LOT of cardboard and filler (courtesy of some previous owner with a flair for danger) and began the long process of welding in new panels.

Put it up on axle stands tried to take the wheels off - see thread on spinning studs - swapped the boggo dampers for KYB Adjust-a-rides and wired in my trickle charger.

Replaced light clusters, took off the dash and moved the fan thermostat that was hanging down behind the dash, removed the face-missing headunit and a load of associated wiring from behind the dash.  Replaced the indicator stalk, which meant taking off the steering wheel, which meant taking out the steering column - total ball-ache!

Was going to do a few other bits, but it took two jacks and most of an F1 race to get the fuel tank back in!

Discovered there's a towbar and electrics installed underneath, just missing a swan-neck tow ball and a tiny caravan!

Next job is removing the mechanic fuel pump and fitting a blanking plate, then there's oil leaks to look at.  Once that's done everything's to grease, new oil filter and oil etc.  But no rush as the weather is unlikely to be decent again for a while now...

Turned on so many heaters I blew the fuse to the garage so packed up and went back in.

Been there, done that when spraying my Mini a couple of years ago.

Ps when plugging two heaters into an extension reel - always unwind it fully so it doesn't become one solid ring of useless wire 😳

These were all into wall sockets but it was 1 oil radiator, 2 halogen heaters and 1 fan heater 😬

fitted rear retractable seat belts, which involved making some retaining plates up and welding them in place. I am very happy with the results too, no more messing about with those bloody awful fixed belts and the kids will be happy.

Tuesday night the indicator circuit inline fuse decided it would blow, I had to temporarily use a 35 amp fuse, so replace that with a 15 amp item. Last night Greased both rear wheel bearings and adjusted the rear brakes a bit(handbrake was at 5 clicks instead of 3) so adjusted up a bit, it now holds lol

Decided I was fed up climbing over and around stuff  in the back of the garage so started a marathon clean and tidy up, back on it tomorrow too.
