Did nothing to my Minis today, but took my Rover 214 rally car for MoT and on the way, at 60+ mph on a country road, the bonnet flew up, smashed the screen and damaged the bonnet. Someone forgot to re-fit the bonnet locking pins last night and I forgot to check them this morning. Hey ho, at least I stopped OK., bent the bonnet back into shape, got a new screen fitted and an MoT, taxed the car, then found an almost OK bonnet off an MG ZR for nothing, which I filled and surfaced this evening. Just need to paint the bonnet and fit it. The old bonnet is OK for now and will do for this weekend's rally. Blooming agro though.

Thought we'd finally sorted the electrics out.

Took it for a drive to Shirley aquatics. Got about 2 miles from the house before the battery decided it didnt like holding power anymore.

Back to square one :)

Finally got my delivery of my throttle return spring, and then spent ages getting the bloody fiddly thing off as the previous owner had bent it closed... then I took off the air cleaner which gave me room to fit the new one on

I decided to jack the Mini up and give the underside a good blast with the jet wash to get rid of all the evil rust-inducing salt they drop all over the road. Gave the wheels a damn good clean too. Also tightened the fan belt up a tad as it was slipping occasionally when all the electrics were turned on. Noticed today that the last time i changed the oil was back in march so I might change that tomorrow if it aint too miserable outside.

Gave her a clean and a good blast underneath to remove the salt.

Also a quick polish on the exhaust and alloy rocker cover :)

Not that it will stay clean for long! >.<

Took the dash clocks out today and cleaned up all the rusty copper tracks on the circuit board. Now the water temperature gauge reads correctly, the blue main beam light works, the oil pressure light works and best of all the backlights look twice as bright. I can actually read the dials in the dark now!
