Today, wife and I spent eight hours cutting the rest of the bodywork, polishing twice plus seal. Then all the glass was degreased then cleaned. Front grill had a broken rivet on one slat so that was fixed. Then all chrome was Autosol'ed and sealed. Then all the rubber was cleaned. Leather bonnets straps were fed, several times, they needed it. Headlights were taken apart, cleaned and rebuilt.
Engine bay and engine were gunked and rised, needs another go. All the loose wires/cut wires from previous owners were tidied.
Carb dash pot oil topped up and air filter was cleaned. Had a spirited drive but still appears very rich. Carb needs a tweak I think.
Day off tomorrow I think. Both of us have sore arms now :)
Cheers
Ian

Drove it in the local Independence day parade and the little bugger boiled up on me
Sent the other half on the forage for a thermostat for my fan, have to have it fixed this morning as we are leaving to travel to Portland, for a meeting for Mini Meet West 2013, which is being held in our locale

Was a pretty good run, kept a steady **mph most of the way there and on the way back found out something interesting - small wide wheels aquaplane REALLY easy!

Had to nurse Mr. Bridger home from the mountain pass road, water pump sheared, or so my other half said.

Big test drive for an hour up step hills getting it very hot, no worries now.
Replaced spark plugs as I had two of one type, two of another and one plug had a cracked insulator.
Fixed an oil leak from the oil pressure switch, just needed tightening.
Cleaned all that up with some gunk, a brush and a hose.
Then striped the interior, seats out, carpet out. Removed all the various cables for stereos, nasty amp from the boot etc. Gave the whole interior a good Hoover, and a wash. Located the wires for the reverse switch (reverse lights not working). Confirmed I've got 12v going in but switch isn't working as suspected. New switch as already here, just need to borrow a ramp to fit it.
Whole dash is now out and slowly removing 20 odd years of wires that are not being used, ready to replace those that are (new fuse panel and relay panel going in). Just need to make a dash panel now.
Interior all put back in after cleaning it all. A much nicer place to be :)
Got a couple of under bonnet things to sort, nothing major, a dash to build, and a good service of the brakes, then we will be there. Then we can start making as we want it, but only little things, e.g. Change the mirrors, get wheels refurbed etc.
Only got the car a week ago, so not bad going.
Cheers
Ian
