Got the car up on the ramps for a pre-MOT check over. Failures found: Seized beyond serviceable near side rear brake cylinder. Big hole in backbox (new RC40 needed).

Work done: Greased all nipples, bled brakes. Set the ignition timing, and idle speed. Cleaned and gapped spark plugs, red-ex'd the bores / carb inlet. Straightened up wonky rear fog lights, cleaned the moss out of the front sidelight / indicator lens (new seal needed).

Found the cause of the noise from the front :gimme: Its only been there since the 'incident' when a silly woman ploughed into the back and I hit the vehicle in front too requiring a new front panel. The bodyshop must have been intending to tighten the 2 bolts through the teardrop mounts as a final thing when it was all aligned-----but forgot! Am very happy to have found it,,but not that they forgot and caused me some worrying.£3000 repair and I had to finish it off!!

Well,
yesterday i went for two relatively fun drives,
the first with a couple of friends, one of whom is now eyeing up a mini to buy, so i guess you could say that i emptied his wallet for him (metaphorically speaking anyway) :shifty:
Also overtook a BINI :proud:
the second when it got dark, i had a bit of fun on some country lanes, although he didn't like the hills very much...
and the clous have hiven him a wash today...

I managed to fix around 8 different faults, unfortunately I had created them all in trying to fix another fault. Incidentally I never managed to fix the original fault, at least I now know what is wrong with it and know what part I need.

Minis, just as well I love them!

haha I did this in my old car; installed remote central locking and somehow in the process broke my electric power steering

All I was doing was try to get the horn working. Turns out the live feed loopback had broken inside the stalk itself, this ensured that I would fix one and then something else would go. Finally took the stalk apart to have a proper fiddle.

It's all good though as I had a proper test of my fault finding and wire diagram following.

More MOT work today after a trip to Minispares. Fixed the blowing exhaust by fitting an RC40 backbox and link pipe, which also meant robbing the Maniflow LCB from my other mini.... and the twin 1.5" SU's... because, well, it was just rude not to... I refrained from stealing the Stg3 head too. For now.

Also fitted a new brake cylinder, and eventually got round to fitting the GT badge.

Just hope my reg plates arrive tomorrow so I can get it in for the test, otherwise god knows what else I'll end up stealing from my laid up mini to occupy the time!!

Drove it properly for the first time this year. Filled the tank too.

Feels great to be behind the wheel of it again.

I tried to change out the rear brake cylinders/shoes on my mini, as the rear cyl. was leaking slowly, everything was wet inside the drum, when I tried to loosen the brake line from the brake cylinder, it just twisted off, now I am waiting for parts again, it's a pain over here, you can't just go to the auto parts store, have to have them sent here, but it only takes a couple days.
