Ive heard of people using Bosch Super 4s in mini engines but ive never really found out the outcome and any advantages of using these.
i am thinking of getting some but id like to know the general opinion on them, do these offer a marked improvement that would be worth investing in.

also does anyone know what ones would fit a 1989 mayfair 998cc

cheers in advance

Have them in mine at the moment, can't remember why I chose them some time back (in fact it was ages ago - and probably a "you're in halfords mate, what stock do you expect there to be" moment), but they work like a spark plug should, that's all I can tell you! I have no complaints. They're undoubtedly overkill for my 998 (also given the price differential - and most of the time my ignition perfomance has been improved / repaired before the plugs). Given my ambivalence, I've got a set of NGK BP6ES going in fairly soon when I service mine with new dizzy cap and leads. Champion N9YC spark plugs also commonly used for standard 998s. There are variants with built in suppression if your car has electronic ignition.

not sure, but the way i had it explained was thus:

you only get one spark per ignition stroke - so 4 probes is overkill. the only advantage is that he spark will take the route of least distance so the plugs last longer.

but saying that i have VW golf gti plugs in my mini - but that is more due to the weber fuelling and needing a hotter burning plug.

a standard NGK plug will perform perfectly adequately for a 998 - unless it has been heavily worked on.

IMHO they aren't worth the money.

It's a gimmick. It doesn't matter how many grounded contacts there are, the spark will always propegate from the closest one to the live. As said above they should last longer before needing re-gapping, but once they do need gapping you have to throw them away because I don't think you can gap them without special equipment, they are factory set. Having said that, I've never found a set of NGKs to need to be re-gapped before the whole plug was coming to the end of its life anyway.

Pointless gimmick, don't bother.
