Hello Graham, I know your car hasn't got a distributor, I'm guessing you use a megajolt set up? I don't suppose you ever ran the car with one as a comparison to what it's like now? Do you think it is worth ditching the distributor?

Cheers,

Jon.

In all cases an MJ or MS will be superior to a dizzy. Even mor eadvantages to using one in forced induction as there is no dizzy that will do exactly what you want it to.

That's good to know, I may have to seriously consider it... Where did you get the bits from? Did you source them yourself or buy it as a complete kit?

Cheers, Jon.

i ran mine with a metro dizzy ( crap) then went for a aldon supercharged dizzy ( waste of money ) now on megajolt . with a common map from some one with the same spec as mine . and it runs mint so smoothe ... only run dizzy if you have to . or its a waste of time

Mine runs with the standard distributor (it's an electric one being a 93 Mini) and I've never really had any problems with it. Only real problem is the rolling road disconnected the vacuum advance so the ignition timing doesn't change as the revs increase...

I am running a standard dizzy at the moment which runs fine. Only problem i am having is the rough idle pick up if i am sat in traffic. But i still need to go for a rolling road session which may help sort that problem?

Unless your dizzy has been locked it will still advance regardless of whether the vac pipe is connected or not.

Ah fair play, my mistake, I thought the vacuum line was to advance the ignition? Or does that simply advance it further? Cheers, Jon.

Yeah that sould help sort the problem, it could be down to a number of things, whether it has oil in the dashpot, timing, needle etc, a rolling road session will have it running at it's best... Providing they are any good of course haha.

I think its down to the needle profile now as i know i have oil in the dashpot and the timing is correct. I hope they are good since they are ex noble mechanics haha.

How hard is megajolt to fit?

megajolt is eays .. only cost me the ecu and the trigger .. got the rest from local wrecker and made some ht leads aswell

dizzy with the suck through . the vac advance stays on no matter what .. i put a vac peice off a dizzy on the vac line you can watch it and it does not move at all over all revs

vac advance waste of time with the suck through full stop

had problems with mine dieing when you went to stop . turned out to be thicker oil in the dash . and the advance of the dizzy down low was on the piss . megajolt is not fine

get your self a aem wide band afr gauge .. helps to get a rough idea

below is what mines at now .. ford coil pack . rubber insulated bracket onto starter motor . made to look similar to dizzy ( hate fire wall mounted coils )

need to get this beast back out . to good to be sitting
