Im getting the old black and decker orbital to my mini today to start preping it ready for a roller paint, what grades of sandpaper should i start and end with? The previous owner sprayed straight over the original paint so theres two layers on there at the minute.
Also im using enamel coach paint after reading a previous thead a few weeks ago, will this be ok at withstanding any chemical spillages that may occur, for example a bit of petrol round the filler cap, or my boyfrinds dirty mechanic hands covered in all sorts of crap!
oh and can anybody recommend a good filler? please don't cry at this question, he's getting a full resoration over the winter, this is just to keep him going and stop me being embarassed in the good weather!
Thanks for the help!

what i did as my paint was peeling i went over quickly with 80 grit then 240 then 320 or you could use 180 instead of 80 grit depends how bad the paint work is and how much you want to sand down too.

paintwork is rubbish, but quite thick. i dont want to take it all the way back to bare metal becaus i don't want to prime it again. The pinned guide to respraying recomends 16 or 25 for power sanding, but i thought that was a bit course,
went to BnQ and got 40 grit to start and a few inbetween ones all the way down to 240, will this be ok?
Ps josh your sig is what i want it to look like, i got my last mini in that condition and it was perfect for a respray base.

oh and you need like 320 as a minimum for final sand otherwise you when you paint you will still have the scratches. i and using the 320 grit then using a grey scotch pad to get the final finsh ready for the paint.

320, then 500. Use anything coarser and you'll have to prime it.

went to try and get aluminuim oxide discs today but everywhere was closed! so i thought id have a go with the stuff i had, i praticed on an old bonnet and it worked perfectly, didnt clog up at all, brought the paint back to the original etch primer so im happy enough, gona get started on the doors and bootlid tommorow, can't do the main body until next week after the mot so i can take all the trim off.
