I'm off to Bristol on the train today to pick up a 42 year old Triumph Herald that i've bought off the 'bay. Haven't seen it in the flesh and I'm gonna have to drive it all the way back to Hastings. In the rain! I must be mad.

Turned out to be scabbier than I thought but nothing that can't be fixed. So drove home in monsoon conditions with blowing exhaust, car pulling to left a little, even more when braking, wipers smacking against the scuttle on every sweep. Got to 20 miles from home and.....bang! sudden loss of power. Pulled over and got the AA out. Very nice man. He reckoned the exhaust had collapsed inside causing a blockage. He followed me nursing it the last 20 miles till the steep hills up to my place and it couldn't drag itself any further, so the last couple of miles were on the end of a tow rope. Oh, the ignominy! i have a feeling I won't be bored for a while. Poor old mk1 mini is gonna have to live outside for a while till I get this up and running,

Congrats. You & the Herald obviously did your best and there is no shame in that. Think -- no more 3-point turns with that tiny turning circle! Pictures please. I passed my test in a Herald in '62 and it will bring back scary memories. :)

Good work! Have you seen the Black herald with white stripes that buzzes about Hastings? and the REALLY rusty one that lives on Braybrooke Road? I think they're really nice.

Good luck with it! :)

Stop press! She lives! Was only the ignition timing that had slipped. You would have thought the AA man might have spotted that.I'll get some pictures if it ever stops raining. Off to my local tyre and exhaust place to get laughed at this avo. Pooky: Yes I know the one in Braybrooke Rd but I'm told its been under a tarpaulin for a while now, haven't seen the black one tho.
