No idea on why the grp front isn't painted mate, your guess is as good as mine.  Prepped at least so I'll get it sorted at the local shop who did seats and roof, need to get bootlid painted too!

It sounds to me thst you are an absolute perfectionist and i know how that can make you feel. Despite the problems this car looks fantastic. I wish you all the best getting it finished!

I think the main thing with keeping any project alive is to make progress no matter how small it is. It's all relevant to the finished thing.
It's looking good so keep at it

Thanks guys, yep, trying to get it as good as poss, have managed to work through a few small jobs over the last couple of weeks.  Also gave it a bit of clean yesterday and came up quite well which is encouraging.  Larry Web from PDQ came up to see the car yesterday and was very positive and is hopefully going to sort out the loom and fuel lines pretty soon so that's good.  Some pics below:

Need to get a black top hose!  Got the chain tensioner on yesterday, and the easy to fit top and bottom rad hoses, since previous posts Phil sorted the ali aaron rad and Scot oiler and zinc'd various parts.  Sump's quite low!  Want to try to do some kind of flat floor under the engine when it's all up and running.

P1030151_zps08439c14.jpg

Got the black fillet strip into the windscreen rubber (painful) and wing mirrors on couple of weeks back, mirrors were a bit of a do as had to take the lower rails out of the doors and the perpsex, bonded in as well, was totally in the way of the internal fixing - should have put the mirrors on first.

Need to sort the rear lights, aim is to get them 'frenched' in but will be a big bit of work and will all need repainted which is a bit of a pain, don't suppose anyone knows someone who could do this in Bucks/London area?

Cut out for diffuser just waiting for me to finish the mould and hopefully get Dave Kimberley to make it in grp or carbon

Spent some time in the week getting the filler and filler pipe in, pretty pleased with it

Really pleased with the 3/4 lights from Pastics4Performance, they added the black edging which I think looks dead smart, just need to tidy up the adhesive which has squeezed through onto the surrounding paintwork

P1030167_zps799d7e9f.jpg

I'm almost certain I've taken the protection off these and have cleaned them three times but they're covered in marks - do people think they're just scratched, any ideas on how to sort this?

Need to take the wheels off to post some better pics of the rear suspension which looks good - real shame about the various areas of corrosion which I'll need to have a go at - hopefully won't need to get it all re-plated but not sure if there's another option?

P1030179_zps3cd7f26e.jpg

Been trying to put the hoses on, can anyone help on where the 6mm diameter hose goes, connects to the tail in the middle of this picture and then round to the back of the engine somewhere?  Where does the 13mm diameter hose run?  Re. the oil filter and adaptor plate, probably a stupid question but presume you just run short lengths of hose between the two, or do these tie in with the above?  Completely lost!

All the best,

Al

Thanks man, much appreciated.  Been in touch with Simon Jackson a bit who was the previous editor at Retro Cars, he was pretty keen which was nice, just need to get it done!  Would of course love to get it in a mini mag!  Was up at Retro Cars in Hinkley last weekend, they write some stuff for RC, their shop's been in the mag and many of their cars - they were saying the new management are top people so hopefully will still be able to get them to publish the car at some point.  Big fan of Speedhunters too but not sure how they go about putting cars on their site?

Wow!
The 6mm - there are two from the fast idle unit. The lower one goes to the connector on the far left of the engine and the upper hose goes down to the connector for the bottom rad hose where it enters the engine.
The 13mm also attaches to another take off on the same bottom hose connector. This then runs around the front of the engine to the back where it connects to what is I think the pump.

Cheers.  I know, it's not as bad as it looks in that 2nd pic but it is low.  I knew that was the case going into this and, as you can see the car is pretty seriously compromised in terms of normal use so will be a case of not using it on the road too much and, if it is, making sure you know the road and where you're going!  Speed bumps are a no no, along with anything else with more than about 90mm elevation!

Just read this build from start to finish Alan & you have a fantastic build! Lots of really well thought out bespoke fabrication, very very impressive :-)

If I counted correctly I think you have a 18T front sprocket & a 17T rear sprocket. What diff ratio are you running? I have a gearing calculator I created so I can tell you what your top speeds will be in each gear which you might find useful?

Also would you mind telling me where you got the flexible fuel filler piping from? I have some for mine but its a bit too rigid & yours looks much more flexible.

Thanks Dudley, much appreciated, mostly a really good job yeah.  It's down at PDQ at the mo getting the wiring sorted.  I got the flexible fuel filler from Car Builder Solutions along with a fair few other bits, they're very good.

No idea what the diff ratio is, it's a Quaife diff, that's as much as I know, sure the other boys on here will be able to tell me though!  Would certainly be good to see your calculator yeah, many thanks.

The diff ratio is determined by the crown wheel and pinion built up with the Quaife in the diff housing. If you ask whoever supplied/built this for you they hopefully should be able to tell you what ratio they used. The most common is a 3.4CWP, It does not really matter what ratio it is as you have the 2 Sprockets (FR&R) in the Pro-Motive kit that can be swapped out.

What top speed do you want & what is the car going to be used for? have you managed to weigh it yet - it looks light!

Nice build that mate! Really like the fabrication of the sills and rear arches!
What diameter was the tube that was used for turreting the arches?
Keep it up
