Hi, welcome to my mini project - Mayfair2.

Got hold of an 88 Mayfair in 2004 and have been steadily (read slowly) working on the project since then.

Will attach lots of images as I've tried to catalogue whats been going on - have put it out for public viewing now because the car has been at Mintec in Devon since last August and, having taken it apart, they're going to put it back together - brilliant bunch of guys down there.

Want to gauge opinion on all the decisions we've made to see if we can do it better so please post any suggestions.

Aim is somehting like Aric's car on here - also like Stuart Wright, Peter Hills and Stefan Brash's Minis - they've all been in the mags.

Rough idea of spec. as follows:
R1 5JJ motor in modified Pro-Motive Frame with Quaife LSD
Lightened as far as practicable - GRP panels/perspex throughout
Full welded cage - lots of swaged reinforcement
Re-sited alloy tank
Bespoke suspension front and back
Force Racing 10 x 7' wheels (actually 8' to the outer lip - amazing bits if kit)

Hopefully the programme is looking like an early 2011 completion but as we all know anything can happen and such cars/projects usually take the hit in the event of the girlfriend deciding she wants a new bag... wish me luck.

Al

Hey mate, absolutely. Away at the mo but will sort it tomorrow evening - is there really no other way of putting photos up? Sure other peoples' threads have had tons of images in them? Al

Thanks guys, here's some more pictures, turreting and tubbing - haven't decided on the cross-member, really like it but may be able to build an element into the cage.

Top dash rail going in and bulkhead coming out - aim is to tag the cage to the A-pillars with swaged sections as well as in the first sketch

Its not often in life that something meets, let alone exceeds expectations, but these really are even better in the flesh - know we're a long way away from needing them but prices were going up

Lots of the bits that have come off, kept everything - which reminds me, one roll cage for sale as per the images, door bars painstakingly and lovingly hand finished by me - Mintec are really keen on doing new cage which, now that the rear bulkhead is no more, ties into the rear end more effectively.
