Cool project! I need to do the towing add-on to my licence so I have an excuse to make one of these
You can tow up to 750kg on a new style lisence, with a maximum laiden weight of 3500 kg.

The maximum train weight is 3500kg I think, which is the car and trailer, and people and luggage.
Anyway, I got more done yesterday, finished welding the deck on, and shaped it, also filled so I can rub down today and prime that bit.
The front I put in place, and tacked on, then am slowly seam welding, done the top edge, but both sides need doing, then I need to form the bottom edges.
Then it's the front top edge, which is going to be the hard bit to get the right shape, but I'm feeling brave, so should be alright!

(Hence my work to remove as much unnecessary weight as possible from the trailer).

I was planning on keeping the suspension + subframe for mine but remove brakes.
Roof for the lid, steel front, steel boot, alloy wheels, gas lifters. Will I struggle with the 400kg limit, bearing in mind the whole point of this is to carry camping gear around?

Motor vehicles with a MAM of up to 3,500 kg, no more than eight passenger seats, with or without a trailer - weighing no more than 750 kg.
So you can tow a 750kg trailer on a standard license.
Be aware thought that you need to observe the vehicles maximum towing weight and unladen weight also.

If someone had just scrapped it then yeah fair enough, that's a waste. But atleast someone is keeping half a Mini on the road and getting some use out of it
Keep up the good work!!!

also it was aparently rolled so probs wasnt that straight anyway
Yeah, so it would be weak! No good, better that someone gets some use of whats left of it. Better than the Mini sitting at the scrap yard

Umm can i just add my tupance please.
Would just like to say that at present, yeah they may cost a far bit, but you can get a heritage shell and so we wont run out of minis untill they stop trading. So your "ye we are runing out of minis" is false.

For starters, people like me? How to you get to that one then...?
OK then, you spend in excess of 1K on pannels and welding to save a shell when you can buy a soild shell for that anyway! Or, leave it to this guy whos making something different, very good, practical and generally better than pulling up in a bog standad car.
End of.
