I am currently carrying out my first project doing up a 1991 Mini Cooper, where is the best place to get a good quality carpet that will not cost the earth, your experiences are appreciated.

i gt mine from huddersfield spares an it was about £30-£40ish cant quite remember but it fits well an was easy to fit. theres before an after pictures if u click my progress thingy (click the sig) hope that helps

huddesfield minispares has pretty decent carpet sets at decent prices. if you want to go top end quality then newton comercial or somerfords are really deluxe but you pay the price for it.

i got a cheap one from minisport about £35 or sumot and it was quire a bad fit but then i put some cheap underlay material and now it fits very well

There’s one that attends most of the shows that does a full carpet set including a bit for the parcel shelf, complete under felt kit and a choice of mats for £50.

And I have the deluxe velour carpets from the same people in the 25 at the mo.

If you want quality then get newton. if you want it abit more affordabe get the hudderfield spares ones

Minisport have the Newton set in the sale at the moment, £118 instead of £139 on the Newton website. I braved the rubbish Minisport service for the discounted price.. Took ages to arrive, but it's nice, can't beat the quality.

I'v got a cheap one in my car at the moment. Its not a bad fit. It looks a bit tatty now though. At the end of the year when I start redoing my interior I'll be putting in a nice set of black Newton ones.

I bought what I thought was a Newton one from Minispares - nice carpet, sound deadening attached etc. But... I was surprised that there is no stitched edging - but... it doesnt fray, so I assume it is meant to be like that?

if thats the people who have the big boards with carpets layed out on them, i would reccomend from personal experience, the carpets they supplied fit terribly and hasnt lasted long (the luxury set) it has worn out after about 3000 miles even through the mats supplied. there is a gap all the way round

i would reccomend newton commercial as i have seen there standard fit 'pressed' carpets and was well impressed with them
i think i will be getting there mpi style one peice carpet when funds allow,

you pay the extra but are well worth it

sounds like you have the newton commercial ones, its basically an exact replica of the standard ones that came with the mini, the stuff on the back holds the carpet together and thus stops it fraying
