Though I was pretty stupid first time I pushed the seal in place, and broke it. Knowing myself, I bought not one but three of them. So I had to take this one out too with more screws

So second time I put packing tape over the gear spline that went over the bigger diameter so it made a little ramp for the seal to go over. Plus by using the tool properly and a little bit of vaseline it went perfect

I installed the new improved starter motor. This is what the holes look like after some filing to fit. I transferred all the wires onto the new solenoid, except the wires for the spot lights that will need more length to them.

I soak my primary gear oil seals in engine oil before fitting, and push them in about 1.5 mm to make sure the clutch doesnt chew them up

I did a 2 hours drive yesterday! Having time for myself is a rare thing so I went for a long drive. The clutch is still slipping but if I'm careful with the throttle it's good.
You’ve done an amazing job, what mirrors are they ?

The mirrors are the Minispares GAM215A and GAM216A, I needed the chrome base plates CZH3521 to raise them a little.

When I tried to start the engine, It would die after a few seconds. I put the old solenoid and starter and it worked. I got the Mini outside in the cold to turn it around and move it in a corner of the garage. The new clutch was super grabby, so an adjustment may be needed. I had to make space for a new project that will eventually live outside when summer comes. The garage still belongs to the Mini :)

Since she now knows what it's like to live with a small, slow and old car from across the ocean, my wife REALLY wanted a Fiat for herself. Of course I couldn't say no because I like everything about old cars and I will gladly take care of it. This one is not a restoration project, it's solid and working, so it's just a matter of bringing it to our taste and take good care of it. I will not detail everything about it here because this is the Mini forum, but it will be in the background!

I had more sound insulation to install on top of the bitumen material. This time it's 8mm closed cell foam. I put it under the dashboard cards

And on all the firewall. (didn't bother to take a picture under the heater box, but it's there) I still have a lot of remaining material, so I will probably add more elsewhere later.

Continuing my quest against noise, I put more foam material over the exhaust tunnel and heelboard
