I made a piece to cover the rear shelf. I started with a cardboard to take the shape, then a 3/8'' plywood covered with foam and leatherette.

Not a bad result

Just read the entire thread from start to finish over the last few days!
Its great to see the transformation and a real inspriation to myself as I sit and start at a bare rusty shell!
Glad to see the thread is still being updated, keep it up, nearly there!
Chris.

Well, well. I thought the project was going forward. How wrong was I? Very. Typical...
After four weeks of doing nothing but collecting dust at the bodyshop, I took the car back home.
I had trouble with the door fits. I thought bodyshops had magic tricks to adjust these things, but no. The guy explained to me what needed to be done to make it fit properly and I understood. He said he could do it but I would not see my car done before the end of summer. I knew that this meant: never. During the four weeks, every time I called he had a new reason as to why he didn't touch my car.
I was there contemplating the dirt and dust that settled on my new carpets and all the wiring that I did this winter, and I said enough, I'm taking it back.
It was a sad ride home

I made a order for A panels, scuttle corners and new bonnet.
I did the front years ago (2011?) It was the first work I did on the body. And the super rookie mistake I made is that I welded the whole front end without fitting the doors and the bonnet (?!) Wow. Anyways...

Wow, I would have lost it after a week and I guess it all depends on what they first promised you? At the end of the day there are many other places and maybe look at a "brand" dealer as although they charge a premium you sometimes get good work as remember they are dealing with difficult customers who bring in new cars (I.E. because of an accident) that they insist the colour , texture, MUST match.
I know this as my wife's 65 MG Midget a guy bumped into the back of it a few years ago and I needed the quarter panels back painted on both sides. MG guy I work with recommended a NIssan dealership - a real ******* matching the paint colours but the guy did an excellent job!!!
Just a thought..

Right side first.
At first I fitted the door correctly in its hole. It was too tight at places

Exactly! Even if the guy apparently did many Minis in the past, I realized I just need a guy would can finish and paint, not a specialist... more to come on that

Took care of this with hammer and block

Had to make the top of the door thinner to better fit with the A post
