Left side cut and weld

And the front
Now my Mini has a bespoke bonnet and it won't fit any other Mini...

I fitted the bonnet hinges to check it's gaps. It's not bad, no fitting work required here

Received my new door skins. Began with the left side, clean and paint the insides with the first auto paint that my hand caught, a nice orange

Very nice work. Im glad my doors were fine cause I am sure I would have messed them up.
Happy to see you are still at it with your project. After months with no update I was fearing the worst... a dead project... dun dun dun

Haha, don't hold your breath for updates. Progress is slow and I update here when it's worth it, like, once or twice a year... the Mini is very much a side-project in my life

You're talking about the sort of side-impact plate? I don't know, it looks factory to me. It has recesses for the door handle and the same panel is used left and right.

That bonnet looks a tight fit now - have you allowed for the thickness of paint!!!?
What paint?
I only do the rough adjustments, I'll leave it to the still unknown bodyshop to do the final stuff

My Canadian mini has the same side impact bar. Damn thing weighs the same as the door it's self. Does yours have the catch on the underside of the door so in the case of a side impact the door doesn't fold in? I wish I had removed mine cause the paint is scratched already in the door sill nubbin thing. Just another odd thing found on Canadian minis
