I have tried Halfords, and a few independent car/motorcycle stores... I'm sure they were easy to find a couple of years ago when my mini was last on the road, now they don't seem to exist! Do modern cars not need grease injected into their ball-joints?

Guess I'll have to buy it in a tub then transfer it to my grease gun...

We get loads of cartridges at work for the tractor.
I would try agricultural suppliers like winchester garden machinery and auto factor supplier type place

I had some from Halfords not that long ago. Anyway the vast majority of modern cars don't have grease nipples any more.

Another source - eBay.

My local Halfords still does it and so do most of my independant car accessory places. Only the big tubes though, not the pistol gun size.

Some branches of Halfords are useless, have very little stock of anything useful and their staff look about 14 years of age and now nothing.

Odd that their website usually has all the stuff you'd want and yet their staff are ignorant of this and can't even be bothered find out.

So no, grease tubes are readily available from good most good motor factors.

A commercial vehicle garage or as mentioned earlier an agricultural garage will sell it for sure.

Hmm, ok, strange I couldn't find one anywhere, even the big Halfords was no good and they suggested I tried B&Q which made me laugh... Seems like they are being slowly phased out though, I used to have no problem finding them.

No their not being phased out at all. It's just that some Halfords stores are useless that's all.

Here you go they've got it on their website: -

Just don't be surprised if the morons working at your local branch deny all knowledge of the stuff though.

They've even got the Wesco Grease Cartridge (same brand as the grease guns they supply) which is cheaper: -
