I'd say a hell of a lot! We used to have blokes racing these at our old grass track, and they are absoulote animals! One guy had two Bandit engines in it and all i can say is that it didnt fair too well after coming out of a corner on its roof after a nose to tail dance...

after the obv (lights, belts, clocks etc) you,ll have to get an IVA test, all the welding will have to be checked, and after passing all that then the regestering and taxign and stuff  good luck tho ill be watching this !!!

go for it, it doesn't take much for it to be street legalised. I say that in the hope that someone will prove me wrong and provide you with some advice!! Good Luck with the project if it comes along!

Download this....
http://www.transport...senger-Cars.pdf
its the current IVA manual.

Build the buggy up to meet the required spec and then it can be registered for the road.

Its not a simple process, but certainly feasable, although I dont know about the smaller buggy - location of lights etc would be the obvious stumbling point.

AVOID!

IVA also now applies to pedestrian safety. It would be a major PITA and very expensive to get this through.

The mention of adding all beetle components is absolute carp.

Do yourself a favour and dig around for a Fugitive or a Chenowth that is already registered and go from there.

Was very busy on this subject on friends Chat only.
My old Mini Based Hol. Mosquito one of six the one with the Gull Wing Doors and green very sought after was on E Bay @250.What was needing a full make -over.Sin to see it in that state. It did upset me.That one was fully Road passed and Green Lane Passed tests. With a good number plate.
I had it on the road so long ago.My Engine And Box was full spec. They seemed to lost that.
My mates in cars think someone may have just wanted the lump of her.It had a few Gs spent on it.
I really hope a good man has bought it so it can be back at the shows in the Future.
