Just ordered the Moss Dash Switch Illimination Kit (Link) that applies a reduced voltage (I think) to the aux switches so they illuminate when the side/main lights are on and make it easier to see them in the dark (how many times have you fumbled for the right one ??). Just wondered if anyone on here had fitted one to an MPi and what the results were like?

Don't know if you found my comments on the Minispares version. We were very pleased with the results and it also comes with a 'lights on' buzzer >_<

I bought the Moss one because it was the only 5 switch one I could find. I asked Minispares and they said that they don't stock it...

The Moss kit is brilliant. Takes the feed from the auxillary guages (just plugs in.)

Was very easy to fit, only took me about 10 mins.

Good luck >_<

So no cutting or splicing needed then? I need to have a good look behind my dash as it's got plent of extra electrics fitted like windows, central locking, 50x Clifford alarm and immobiliser and switches/sensors all over for movement, open door, lights left on etc etc etc. (looks like multi coloured spaghetti in there !!!!)

No cutting needed at all. Just take plugs off, put new plug in, put odl plug back on too. Really was a doddle...

Mine's got Remote Central Locking, no troubles there. It really doesn't take up much space >_<

Okay, fitted it today along with a bluetooth set for the head unit. I would'nt say it's a 10 minute job though, more like an hour or so !! Then again with the amount of extra wires behind the dash for the alarm and immobiliser I guess it wasn't a surprise? Anyway, fitted it now but just one problem, can't get the brake check switch to light up! It works when pressed but just won't light with the lights on, tried a bit of fiddling but ended up blowing a 10A fuse and not being able to turn the "lights on / door open" alarm off !!!
Any ideas? I'm not that fussed as it's the brake check switch as it's not one you use regular in the dark (or light for that matter)?

I'd say it's probably best to leave the brake test light switch alone. That way should it activate, you'll be more likely to notice it rather than if it was already dimly lit.

Although I'm sure someone who has already fitted this mod will enlighten us on the full facts.

One thing I did notice when pulling each of the 5 switches was that the earth/live (that you connect to) was not on the same side on every switch? Not that it made any difference, I left them as is and connected to the live on each switch )whichever side it was on).

Tried taking some pictures but even with the flash turned off the switches are not bright enough for the camera to pick up, however, they do "glow" and make hitting the right switch a lot easier :dontgetit:

The instructions suggest it's easy but believ me, it ain't that straight forward >:) I suggest you get someone who's a bit more familiar with auto electrics to give you a hand.
PS - make sure you get the right kit as there is a 4 switch and 5 switch version.

Best way to learn is do it yourself but just have your "expert" looking over your shoulder?
