I used to have some pretty sweet older gear. When I was a senior in high school I played a 1979 Peavey T-40 bass (I even got my senior picture taken with it!). Sadly I lost it in a stupid deal with one of my buddies. I also used to have a SUPER UBER MEGA IMPOSSIBLY RARE 1987 Ibanez RG550L in the VERY sought after "Desert Sun Yellow". It was my sweetheart for many many years, it was even in the Army with me when I was in AIT (the US Army equivalent to USAF's "Tech School"). I too had a Fender Bassman, however mine was a 100w solid state head (I love solid state) with a single 15" Fender Sidekick cab. It was a sweet halfstack. I used to rock out on Danelectro pedals such as the Fab Tone, and also was very fond of the Grunge pedal by DOD. I owned two processors, both made by Zoom. One was a "505" and then I "upgraded" to the "1010 Player". Honestly though....the 505 was much cooler! My cousin Dave had a rackmount DOD G7 processor that I always loved.....many years later I finally bought one. I still have it, it is sitting next to me as a matter of fact.

I used to own an early 80's BC Rich ST-III in hot pink! That thing was cool and I spent many hours trying to learn "This Love" (by Pantera) on it. It was nice to be a teen.....I was so eager to learn riffs and played for hours upon hours every night. Now I'm old and only play once in awhile. My very first real electric guitar was an '80s Cort. It was Metallic Purple, had a S/S/H pup config, a Kahler trem, and a SWEET neck. I played it through a little Peavey Rage amp. Back home I left my Crate Excalibur half-stack as well as a few pieces of expensive Rack EQs. I don't play through amps these days.....I really don't like them as much. Guitar amps that is,Bass amps are still cool. I primarily play through stereo receivers (Pioneer) and big home speakers. It's nice cause my effects processor is stereo and it all sounds "epic". MUCH better than any amp I have ever heard.

As for my current guitars.....phew....where to start? I have the Custom JEM in this thread, an RG1570L project (that is nearing completion), an RG "Mutt" back home, an '89 RG560L, an '87 RG550L project, two RG470L bodies in Jewel Blue (More or less spares), I have an '87 RG550L in the even rarer "Road Flare Red" coming in the next few days! I also have an Ibanez four string bass, and an Agile AL2500 "Albino" lefty.....it is an LP copy. Back home I also have another Agile AL except it is an AL2000 "Blue Flame" and a Douglas RR style V. All left handed. I have played genuine American Fenders (and of course the Mexican Fenders and even worse the non MIJ Squiers) as well as Bonafide Gibson Les Pauls......I'm not a big fan of Gibson. They are pretty nice guitars but I feel they price gouge. Their guitars are WAY overpriced......and over hyped. Fenders I feel can be overpriced as well but not anywhere near what Gibby does! My Agiles are just as nicely built and play/sound EXACTLY like the real thing. My AL2000 only cost me $250 and another $50 for a HSC. My AL2500 cost me $350 and another $50 for a tweed HSC. VERY nice guitars......I will be buying more of this brand of axe! To ME Gibson/Fender are a bit like the Classic Mini.....highly innovative back in the old days and often imitated/copied because they set the mark to follow but I feel they have been surpassed long, long ago by companies like Ibanez, Jackson, ESP, Agile, heck....even Dean has surpassed Fender/Gibson.

They just haven't done anything noteworthy (no pun intended!) in ages. They are basically just a name anymore......heck Buddy Holly played the Strat back in the 50's and it hasn't really changed since. Another good example would be the Original Floyd Rose trem. Very innovative in it's day.....but honestly the Original Ibanez Edge trem is far better built and it's a LFR! It surpassed the original! Lol! I feel that Ibanez offers cutting edge ideas for today's Musicians but also offer vintage tone/style and construction for those that prefer those types of guitars. People always tell me "The Ibanez RG is nice but it can only play Metal/Rock" WHAT?! These guitars can play any style and do it WELL. So, for me.....it's Ibanez. I also dig my Agiles cause they are better than the real thing. I'll post some pictures of my AL2500 sometime. It is sweet.

(Gibsons are nice though.....but for a lefty like me.....very very expensive, and they already are too expensive for Righties!)

I just got the new Grover Tuners a few days ago and think they look FAB! They are a "Distressed Bronze" finish with 18-1 gearing. I feel they go well with the "Rustic" look of the natural Tung Oil finish. I also just got the Seymour Duncan "Blackout" active humbucker as well. I also installed a fresh pair of Schaller Strap Locks. Things left to do before calling it "done":

Have graphite nut made for neck, have the last four frets scalloped, wire up the electronics, get dowel rods to make mounts for the pup, get a foam pad for underneath the pup, drill holes for cavity covers, order a battery bag from StewMac, get a couple sets of D'addario EXP XL strings, then get it professionally setup and dialed in! Oh and a new hardshell case.....then it is moving onto the next Ibanez project!

Brilliant mate, stunning!

I recently bought a bluegrass Mandolin by Tanglewood and havnt really played guitar since. My dads always had mando's but never really liked playing them as much as guitar. As my musical tastes have developed i find it really fit's my style, and being the same tuning as the violin/fiddle i knew what was what in a few hours.

Also spotted some hotwheel's, Are you a hotwheels guy too? :shifty:

My wife bought me that bass from a guy at her shop for $50! It is a 2009 model and is in great shape.....he bought it and played it a couple times then stopped.

Craig....my Dad plays the fiddle and the Mandolin. He has a VERY old fiddle that once belonged to "Jack Dempsey" who played fiddle for the Country Singer "Faron Young" (Hello Walls). His Mandolin is made by "Sigma" which is a Japanese division of CF Martin.....his is an early 1970's model, they don't produce them anymore and are very hard to find. I have a fiddle as well....I used to play when I was younger. I mainly played Bluegrass stuff like Wildwood Flower, Wabash Cannonball and a few other "rags". My Dad is a Bluegrass FREAK and as such I have developed a fondness for it, growing up listening to it all my life has made me appreciate it more!

Also.....whats a "Leccy"? I'm not familiar with this term.

Hot Wheels....yep I do love me some Hot Wheels! The ones you see in the picture are my VW collection.

I used to own one of these basses:

It is a Peavey T40 and they are VERY tough, awesome to play basses. I really wish I could get my old T40 back! :D

If your a lefty you should have one of these.... the wasburn EC29

IMO the best superstrat of all time, silky to play, with great bite but with a rich edge to it due to being neck thru, and has a great sustain.

This particular one is my sisters, i have a R/H one and also the 36 fret version EC36

That sound's cool mate. I love a bit of bluegrass, it's real chill music and it's just peaceful to listen to. I'd love to play in a bluegrass band but nobody seem's to like that thing over here.

Ohh cool, glad im not alone on that one. I used to have 800 all carded accross my walls, moved on and now do mainly Mini models, though. I know you are made on hotwheels in America, So much so that the hardcore collector's que up outside ToysRus and Walmart in the mornings to try and find the treasure hunt's. Over on the hotwheel's collectors forum's they are manic, some have Hotwheel's collection's of up to 80,000 car's. If that's what keep's you happy then so be it really, at the equivilent of 49p a car and cheaper over there it's a brilliant hobby to be into. Since woolworths went bust there really is nowhere to buy them here though, one of the main reason's i stopped collecting. As much as i love finding new car's its just rubbish when you do a trip to town and check out all the shop's that sell HW's to find that they all have 2008/9 mainline car's and nothing new. Mattel don't look after here in the UK like they used too :D

This might sound odd but I'm not really into Washburns. They never really appealed to me although the one you posted is SWEET. I guess what I mean is Washburn was great in the 80's and mid 90's but they just don't compare to the feel of a Jap Ibanez RG. I WISH I could get a left handed Ibanez JPM or a Lefty Ibanez PGM! That would be a dream!

Lol!, I actually gave it some SERIOUS thought and it occured to me that you guys might have meant "Electric". I just never heard it called a "Leccy". I should have known....having seen Clockwork Orange a billion times and hearing Malcolm Mcdowell say "Steaky wakes and eggy weggs" kinda taught me early on that the British have a "colorful" almost whimsical approach to speaking. Watching "Snatch" reinforced this idea when "Bricktop" says "Goody Gumdrops".

Thanks for clearing it up for me though! Lol!

My Dad is real big into "Bill Monroe" and I like the "Soggy Bottom Boys".....among others. Bluegrass is really big in the states especially in smaller towns like where I am from. Most families are like mine when it comes to beer drinking and bluegrass picking! Here is a couple great vids:

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.c...></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.c...hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

My Dad used to play Soldier's Joy alot on his fiddle.....makes me cry tears of joy remembering when I was a small child hearing the old man play some good bluegrass. Happy Times!
