Hi, I am the proud owner of a mini cooper spi 1.3i which i purchased last year and have loved driving ever since! :thumbsup:
I have recently been searching the web for performance kits ie stage 3 etc which say they will take my engine to 85bhp? (true false i dont know?) these kits from minisport include the following;
* Mini Sport Stage 3 ported and polished cylinder head with 35mm larger inlet valves
* Mini Sport 1.5:1 ratio billet alloy roller tip rockers
* Mini Sport Superflow side exit exhaust system
* Maniflow Injection LCB exhaust manifold
* Exhaust manifold gasket
* K&N replacement air filter element
* Uprated head gasket set
* 4 x NGK uprated spark plugs
* Comprehensive fitting instructions

However being a bit of a speed freak i would like somewhere around the region of 100bhp! or maybe more if possible without changing the engine. If anyone out there can help me or give any addivse on what i need to do to get the power of of the engine any addivse would be greatfully welcomed :withstupid:

Thanks.

Think about changing the cam and flywheel too, if you really want loads of power, think about a fully mapable ecu too

100 Hp is considered the Holy Grail for an Spi mini.
It takes a huge amount of work and money to even come close,
check out either Sprocket's or DaveRob's threads and posts to see how its done.

Better to fit a realy good head and lighten the bottom end (Crank and flywheel) to get the best acceleration.
Think about upping the compression if your prepared to run super unleaded all the time.
Then look carefully at the choice of cam as there are very few that work with the std ecu.
Make sure your running an ecu ending MNE***170 if it is a single plug unit rather than MNE***150 (sorry can't comment on the 2 plug variety).

Anything over 80 HP and you are looking at a mappable ecu and an injector upgrade and that's big money.
or the ECU and injector from a metro GTA which are like Rocking horse ****.

A kit isnt neccerssarily the best way to spend your money but certainly not the worst.

Does the rover 114 gsi use the same ecu and injector as the gta?
