Doug i am suprised at you, there is a correct method for fitting glass using a claytonrite sp. rubber as the rubber is designed to be fitted to the aperture first and the glass then fitted.
the string method is used on the quater glass on a mini but not on the front and rear screens.

Why are you surprised Midridge2? I did say that while I've used the string method on other cars that it doesn't work well on the Mini. That seems to agree with your comments. As for the string method working on Mini quarter glass, I have not worked with that. My car has the pop-out rear windows in metal frames so I have not had to fit that glass directly to the body opening.

i am suprised doug because you are the type of person who seems do do work in the correct method and checks that is the correct way to do it, but in this case you do not say out right that with claytonrite sp rubbers the rubber should be fitted to the aperture then the glass fitted.

Sorry Midridge.

There is more than one way to skin a cat. Some people may want to try the string method.

However, I did say in both my first and second posts that the string method doesn't work well on a Mini and I did direct them to the FAQ which explains putting the rubber to the body opening first.
