I have some brake squeal and was wondering if this is the right copper grease to use?

I'm not quite sure where to get a tin of the stuff on a Sunday, any ideas?

Halfords to do a tub of copper grease too.

probably better with a brush and the tub, than a spray when your doing brake squeal. with the brush you can control where it goes.

EDIT: i think its usually near the brake pads and bits (well it is at my local one)

Cheers guys, I thought that this can looked a little small and guessed its a kind of aerosol. I'll get a tub me thinks! Hopefully it stops the squeal! That or I have a mouse of some sorts!

It's all just part of the 'charm' of Mini brakes. Probably the first signs of the calipers sticking - next you will get pulling to one side/pads wearing away very quickly etc etc. Plan to do a caliper overhaul (new seals - and stainless pistons) in the near future!

Ah poo... that's happening already... I took off the pads to get a better look at them. How much would it cost for an overhaul?

You can buy a refurb kit, but I cant remember offhand how much they are, but they come with everything you need to refurb them >_< Other than brake pads, you have to buy those seperately!

TO go back to the original post - the spray stuff is pretty poor to be honest. It's too thin and leaves very little copper grease behind once the solvent has gone. Use the stuff in a tub.

dont forget a wire brush (small)... and brake cleaner.. strip the brakes, clean out the caliper with said brush and cleaner..
deglaze the pads with some emery paper, then grease the backs and sides (where the retaining pins sit)...

oh and dont breathe in the brake dust...

Thanks guys, ended up going to my local parts store and picked up a 500gm tin of Copper Ease and another 500gm Tin of LM2 multi-pupose grease for £10!

Just going to source the brake caliper refurb kit now.

Yup, I agree. I bought this aerosol stuff last week (from B&Q) and it's p***. Suppose it could be okay for spraying on bolts etc before tightening.
