yes i agree can't seem to find a 1.3 but yes there are loads of 1.0. so might just get a 1.0.
also i am looking at the turbo conversion for this engine.
i just love the sound of a dump valve, but that would come later, much later.

the only thing that is putting me of is the subframe, big chief made it look easy but our gearboxes are different.

yes mat i wish it was easy. i tryed to do what BIGCHIEF done but could not do it so i had to make my
own. i do belive that the early boxes are smaller(can any one conferm)then you may be able to do what BIGCHIEF
done.
just do it do it you know you want to :-

yes, confirmed. the early 998 boxes are smaller and that's what we use. this should be ur 1st choice especially if using the cg10 engine.

I was thinking of getting a front mounted rad so there would be more width to fit in the bigger gearbox. I'm sure you'd be able to find something suitable on ebay and mount it like the MPI rad. Just a thought.

Just been Reading mini magazine and am concerned now about doing this conversion due to having to cut into bulkhead. This new biva testing states that no modifications to the bulkhead is allowed. Could you tilit the engine enough so that it doesn't hit the bulkhead,???

Yes it is law. But they have only just started to enforce it. It also says that vosa have men on patrol randomly checking cars and have took 18 cars off the road. Have you told the dvla your new engine no. Etc yet? It doesn't say anywhere what happens to the car if bulkhead mods have been done. Yes it's still a very grey area but is it worth making my car possibly scrap!!!

I was going to get a custom intake manifold made up to solve this problem. With the tiny amount taken from the cross member in big chiefs installs, I thought this would be the easiest way, but it'll probably cost a few quid.
