todays progress

all the body work apart form the boot is done
last bigish bit

also finished a load of niggly bit but didnt take pics
gave the bonnet a 4th coat

the front, back and roof a 3rd



the drivers side got a 2nd and the passenger side, drivers side door and passenger side door got a 1st

I managed to get another coat on both sides before the heavens opened today but coudnt get pics as i had to get it in the garage wen it rained. i did get better pic of yesterdays work tho

i sorted the rust on the boot tonyt an am goin to paint that tomorro or i was unitl i put the primer on an it all reacted wierdly?!? its never done that before an i didnt do anything differently, ie flated the old paint down and wiped it down with a tack rag. could it be the tempreture as it was quite cold out? any ideas anyone?

Now for the lastest issue, im really confused about the boot. iv finally sanded it smooth after the primer reacted last time because it was too cold so this time i made sure the panel itself was warm and the can was warm, i wiped it with a tack cloth then degreased the panel with white sprit, shook the can for ages and then tested on a small corner just in case... and guess what? it reacted again it cant be dodgey primer because i did a few bits not on the boot without problems. the only thing i can think of is that there is somthing wrong with the paint underneath beacause it dosent seem to be reacting on the filler? i repainted it with halfrauds rattle cans last year. could it be this? any ideas im stumped

im no paint expert and have it all to come to but have you tried a fine coat of etch? befire your primer?

im sure someone else will be of more assistance

its U-pol acid etch primer that im using.

ah i see etch primer is supposed to be used on bare metal and only put on in a very fine layer try some normal primer

yeh i had to take it all the way back to bare metal and i have given it a genourous coat of kurust, i will try primering it tomorrow as it was too cold again tonight

fixed up the seam strips, would of prefered to replace them because there a bit bent but im sue its nothing a rubber mallet wont sort out
