does anyone know where to get yellow high temp engine paint, or know a suitable substitute? after checking the local motor shops in town, it's become apparant that they only carry matt black and silver.

hammerite
But it's far too yellow in my view, ideally you want an original tin of Yellow paint ( which you can get from shows ) also undercoat it first using white, other wise you'll be putting 100's of coats of yellow on to cover it...

If your engine get's over 100 degrees, then it wont matter what it's painted in, as you'll be replacing it...
HT paint is for barbeques and exhausts which get up to 100's of degrees..
Paint flaking off is not due to the paint, but the preparation...
The problem with hammerite is, it's gloss ( well dont think they do a satin yellow ), and the original yellow engine paint is a matt finish, so gloss yellow = sunglasses
I have a photo of one somewhere painted in hammerite yellow...

if you could find a picture, that would be great. im wanting to paint the engine yellow with black rocker cover and ancillaries. i plan to match it to my car, which will be going the same color scheme. im almost about to order some daytona yellow engine enamel from the states.

That had about 3 coats brushed on, only used a 250ml (small tin) of hammerite, but next time I did one, I'd lay down some white or light grey primer first...
Colour make no odds with me, and engines an engine... don't know how it lasted, sold the car with it in...

normally i wouldnt care about things like this, but since i am going from a 998 auto, to a 1275 manual, while also doing a flip front, i thought it would be nice. especially since i have the new engine and subframe out and assembled, and it will be right on display with the flip front.
i think im just going to order this paint, since i get free shipping anyway.

May be worth checking if they can actually ship it to the UK.. ( I assume you're in the UK )
There's a lot of things which cannot be sent through the UK postal service, and aerosols is one of them...
Think I've just figured out ( from some of the words you've used in other posts and where you're located )... US origin, resident in the UK
