Hope this is in right section?

Just recently due to all the salt on the roads for the last few months i've noticed some of my poor shiney things (bumper, fuel cap etc) on my car getting bits of surface rust, and also my wheel nuts have started to rust

What does everyone use on their chrome brightwork to stop it rusting? My car is garaged too but it's just the salt on the roads is eating it alive .....
I've got some Meguiars wax and I was thinking of buying a wheel wax or sealant for the shiney bits and to use on the alloys, can this be used on chrome brightwork to stop rust?

Problem is, modern chromed stuff is no where near the same quality as the old stuff....

Polish is usually a good answer... and keeping the parts clean another...

autosol is very good
but needs to be used regularly for a good shiney and rust free effect

I use autosol then cover with nomal car body wax.

A few layers help to seal in the finish and prevent rust!!

i use that meguiars metal polysh stuff, its supposably got anti_corrosive agents in, all my brightwork is stainless steel, so shouldnt go rusty in a while.
I think theres some sort of special lacquer for chrome that stops it rusting, when i fit new chrome bumpers/overriders at work i always paint the inside bit you you cant really see with 2 coats of smooth silver hammerite.

Paint the backs of bumpers etc with Hammerite or Waxoyl-type stuff. Keep them clean and polished with a product like Autosol, Megs, Autoglym etc.
Its all down to the quality of the chroming. As said above some of the modern cheap chroming is very poor.

yeah autosol is good for getting them clean again but offers no protection so you have to wax the chrome after.

I use a product called Jetseal 109 on my chrome and stainless stuff to protect it. Amazing stuff.

Peek, AutoGlym, Autosol........tho most chrome bumpers are chrome plated so it will eventually wear.

Stainless Steal are a lot better.

the other thing i use is a garage :S sorry had to say it when i actually had my mini on the road i used to spray all the chrome with WD40 over the winter it works well but it looks nasty
