The funny thing is...

If you buy the same rad from ebay.com ( US site ) it's even cheaper....

UK site... http://cgi.ebay.co.u...em=180397594381 £57

US site... http://cgi.ebay.com/...em=180399775724 $79.99 or £51.14

Helpful buying tips from GW  ( may even get one myself :o )

Ah but you have missed the key line on the american site Guessworks

'Bidder is responsible for paying shipping costs.'

I want an ally rad

Guesworks, why not try and buy a load of them for a reduced price, then sell them on for say £60.

I bought one shortly before i did my gearbox in on the 1380, so whilst i run on the 998cc with 2core; its still sitting in the box unused.
I drive in lots of traffic, in the summer it does tend to go up to the red-line. It looks perfect to me, welding is adequate, but does have a small radiator cap fitted. I should think that would be a problem tho...

Ha HA!!! (emphasize the last "ha" part) I live in England but have an American address so I don't have to pay the huge shipping costs! And if the seller on eBay.com offers free shipping I don't pay anything! Lol, sorry...not trying to rub it in, I just love not having to pay high shipping costs. Although to be fair some sellers on eBay won't ship to me at all since I have an APO addy and they only use UPS/FedEx....but if they use USPS I am IN!

Yeah but the difference in price is £6 . To be honest to ship that to uk for £6 seems awesome value?

It is when you get paid in Dollars! Also, whenever I buy things off eBay.com it gets shipped to New York. From New York the US Military takes over and sends it over here to my base for free, I pay shipping to get stuff to New York. 6 quid to me is nearly 10 Bucks! I am for sure getting one of these rads!

Umm rads on the SPI were still side mounted but they did have different hoses so im wondering if the inlet and outlet and outlet might have bene in slightly different positions?

I cant imagine so though. Rover were tight arses though so surely the cheaper option would have been to leave the rad as it was!!

This quote is taken from the Minispares website when describing their Ally rad

'Side mounted as per all pre 1996 cars This is a super cool lightweight alloy radiator BUT FOR PRE 1990 cars as it has the overflow pipe facing backwards. For 1990 on cars with a 1275 engine use C-ARA4441A which has the overflow pipe facing forward for the expansion tanks, which were fitted as standard'

Looks like the issue is the overflow pipe facing backwards whereas if you have an expansion tank it needs to face fowards!

Actually it all depends on whether the picture in the advert is accurate. It shows the pipe facing forward so technically if the picture is correct is should be ok for everybody (including SPI owners) except MPI owners!!!!!!! Happy days :o
