Ebay would be your primary source but with genuine Vice Grips you will pay more. I do own quite a few sets of vice grips but i also use other types as well. At the end of the day if they fulfil your requirements then it does not matter who makes them.

I've just been browsing frost's website & found this set,
Frost clamp set I can't see if these can be locked in place with the extra lever like these...

The frost clamp description says there self locking however Im unsure to what that means, as you can probably tell im very new to all of this haha I just want to make sure before I take the plunge, cheers Ian.

you adjust the threaded bolt on the end to set clamping size , they do lock,
you use the lever to unclamp them

these would do

I use c-clamps at work on a regular basis, I use cheapo ones and they are up to the job
and a lot cheaper..

just noticed they are 4'' mini clamps, but they are still usefull

Basically they all work on the same principle as mole grips which are self locking although its you who physically sets the clamp by adjusting the set screw to alter the clamping gap and squeezing the handles together, the c clamps shown in the Frost website have the swivelling heads which do give you a degree of flexibility over the fixed head type but because they have a wide head they are no good on narrow flanges.

If i was you get both types as this will cover all eventualities, i have both types and would not be without them when welding.

Hope this clears up your query.

Neil
