when we put our headlights on, main beam blue light shines,
when we switch to main beam blue dash light shines a little brighter.
is this correct?
or should blue light only come on with main beam?
sorry if this sounds a silly question, just my dad doesnt beleive me on what i think about it:P
thanks again

1- dim- no blue light
2- bright- no blue light
3- BRIGHT- blue light

i always get confused with the lights because people call them different things
so ill explain without the confusion hopefully
1- dim- no blue light
2- bright- no blue light
3- BRIGHT- blue light
does this make sense
i usually call them on, bright and brighter
1-side lights
2-dipped beam
3-main beam or full beam whichever you prefer

It should not be coming on with your dipped beam, as yours currently seems to be.

The warning should only come on when you have dipped beam on.
It should not be coming on with your headlights, as yours currently seems to be.
mine comes on with full/main beam, and all minis i have been in have. or 'really on' if your being technical

sounds like someone could have butchered it at some point, so long as you know the difference and it passes MOT, then id leave it to be honest. just call it a unique feature if it isnt causing any noticable problems. ie, lights being on full when they arent supposed to be

I have to say here, AGAIN, Minis are NOT weird cars in the way they operate. This isn't a dig at you monster_mini but just as a message to the general populous, if your Mini is doing something like this which seems unusual or contrary to how cars generally behave then 9 times out of 10 it is broken and should be fixed. So many problems we get asked about on here only exist because owners have been ignoring faults that they think are quirks of the Mini as a model which then just end up getting worse over time. The main beam warning light means simply that the main beam is on, like it does in all cars. The brake fluid warning means the brake fluid is low, like it does in all cars. The hazard lights should work with one press of the switch, like in all cars. The wipers should park when you switch them off, like all cars. Etc, etc, etc.

no one has mentions it so i will, the full bean is switched via the left hand steering column stalk. maby the stalk or the connectors inside the stalk are stuck on. meaning you constantly have full beam on.
take the steering column shroud off and have a gander
wouldnt you expect the flasher (pulling towards you) to not work if this was the case? mine was bent just a little bit toward the main beam part and wouldnt reach the flash.
this is why i hadnt mentioned it.
