Quote:
"Ahead of its expected debut at the Geneva Auto Show in March, these photos of MINI’s first crossover have leaked onto the net. With an undeniable MINI look, the photos also show the ALL4 badge, indicating MINI’s new AWD system.
Shown in concept form at the Paris Motor Show in 2008, MINI recently displayed the Beachcomber Moke Concept at the Detroit Motor Show, which used the same platform as the Countryman and gave a real look at the production model’s size.
MINI has promised sporty driving dynamics as well as comfortable seating for four. As for the interior, the latest MINI model keeps true to the MINI roots with centrally-mounted speedometer and plenty of toggle switches. Along with the Countryman, MINI has announced that the Coupe and Roadster Convertible concepts will see production in the near future."

Tempted to start a poll to ask

Are the people standing around it and driving it smiling because

a) they are happy and love their new 'countryman'
b) they are laughing at the rather huge, strange but yet rather dull car they can see/are in

Just wondered like.

I quite like the look of it to be honest. At least it now has four doors instead of the clubman "opposable thumb".

No, I'm sorry. I quite like the coupe version they did, but damn that is ugly. It's all too bubbly, kinda reminds me of Mr Blobby or the Michelin Man...

Has anyone noticed the styling they've borrowed from us!? The dodgy fitting fibre-glass front-end look! Look down by the a-panels, or where a-panels should be on a Mini :)

What are they thinking of? :techsupport:

I really don't mind the normal binis, especially the cooper s, even thinking of buying one as our 'normal, everyday, nothing special' car.

BUT little by little I can see BMW, with all these new variants, slowly moving the bini as far away from the original mini as a fiesta or punto or corsa etc etc is, and this new 'countryman' just confirms my fears O_O

After all, the proper countryman/traveller did look like a mini. This new countryman even struggles to look like a bini.

NOT a bini bash, just my opinoin.

Well I quite like it...in those colours anyway... but if Bmw do an option with bonnet stripes and a union jack roof I'll be sick O_O

Can't wait to get a photo of my mini next to one!! :D

Looking forward to seeing some of them being driven on next years London to Brighton! :techsupport: :D

The MINI Countryman is 4m long, about the same size as the latest VW Polo or Vauxhall Corsa but a little shorter than the current Ford Fiesta which is around 4.28m long.
(The MINI hatchbacks are 3.63m long)
