how do scamps handle compared to saloons and the like?
Scamps handle like they are on rails. I pulled a 90* right hander, andmy passenger nearly fell out.
Most are the length of a pickup/van/estate, but with the back wheels more towards the rear corners.
Of course it depends on your suspension setup but it was amazing on standard monroes. Now mine has all new cones/hi-lo's and protech billet shocks, so you can imagine what its like now. Although you can get the back endout if you really want to due to the lightness

since i last posted on this topic ive been to germany and back with it and it was great! never missed a beat....but i was lacking in go a little. (topped out at 90 on the level)
so ive taken out the current engine.

And this is the target specification of the new one
998 A+ block bored 40thou.
balanced, lightened, toughened and cross drilled crank.
lightened and balanced conrods.
centre main strap.
276 kent cam.
superlight flywheel setup (light flywheel and backplate)
low mileage gearbox with centre oil pickup and 3.1 diff.
straight cut drop gears.
12g295 cylinder head mild port and polish.
And eventually laughing gas/turbo...undecided.
I now have all the parts and am commencing my assembly.
As well as the engine i have already changed the steering rack (inner joints gone)

I have also found an old 4 bolt subframe which i have sandblasted and painted and i am currently in the process of assembling all of the suspension on to it.
I am also changing to 8.4 disc brakes from drums all round.
will update as i go.

looking more business like again now. its fitted with the adjustable tie rods and poly bushes i bought and whilst swapping over the components i replaced the upper arms pins seals, washers etc the pins themselves were in perfect order so i left them alone. bottom arm bushes were fine so left thgem alone also.

did have one problem due to the previous owner having tried to use the stevie wonder pot joint removal method.......pry bar and bray it...... small crack in one of the driveshaft plates. checked it out and seems there is no structural damage still debating on what to do with it....may try to find a new plate to replace it.

Thats why mine is set up for acceleration as people think its just a wind up toy when they see it, and then think again as it leaves them behind
